50 וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל־־משֶׁה בְּעַרְבֹת מוֹאָב עַל־יִרְבֶּן יְרֵחוֹ לֵאמר : 51 דַּבֵּר אֶל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵהֶם כִּי אַתֶּם עֹבְרִים אֶת־הַיַּרְבֵּן אֶל־אֶרֶץ כְּנָעַן : 52 וְהוֹרַשְׁתֶּם אֶת־כָּל־יִשְׁבֵי הָאָרֶץ מִפְּנֵיכֶם וְאִבַּדְתֶּם אֵת כָּל־־מַשְׂכִּיתָם וְאֵת כָּל-צַלְמֵי מַסִרֹתָם תְּאַבֵּדוּ וְאֵת כָּל־בָּמוֹתָם תַּשְׁמִידוּ: 53 וְהוֹרַשְׁתֶּם אֶת־ הָאָרֶץ וִישַׁבְתֶּם־בָּהּ כִּי לָכֶבֶ נָתַתִּי אֶת־הָאָרֶץ לָרֶשֶׁת אתָהּ: 54 וְהִתְנַחַלְתֶּם אֶת־הָאָרֶץ בְּנוֹרָל לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתֵיכֶם לרב תַּרְבּוּ אֶת־נַחֲלָתוֹ וְלַמְעַט תַּמְעיט אֶת־־נַחֲלָתוֹ אֶל אֲשֶׁר־יֵצֵא לוֹ שָׁמָּה הַגּוֹרָל לִי יִהְיֶה לְמַטְוֹת אֲבֹתֵיכֶם תִּתְנְחֲלוּ : 55 וְאִם־־לֹא תוֹרִישׁוּ אֶת־־יִשְׁבֵי הָאָרֶץ מִפְּנֵיכֶשׂ וְהָיָה אֲשֶׁר תּוֹתִירוּ מֵהֶם לְשְׂכִּים בְּעֵינֵיכֶם וְלִצְנִינָם בְּצבֵּיכֶם וְצַרְרוּ אֶתְכֶם עַל־־הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר אַתֶּם יֹשְׁבִים בָּה: 56 וְהָיָה כַּאֲשֶׁר דִּמִּיתִי לַעֲשׂוֹת לָהֶם אֶעֶשֶׂה לָכֶם :

וַיְדַבֵּר יְהוָה אֶל-משה לאמר : צו אֶת־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְאָמַרְתָּ אֲלֵהֶם כִּי־אַתֶּם בָּאִים אֶל־הָאָרֶץ כְּנָעַן את הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר תּפּל לָכֶם בְּנַחֲלָה אֶרֶץ כְּנַעַן לִנְבלֹתֶיהָ : 3 וְהָיָה לָכֶם פְּאַת־נֶגֶב מִמִּדְבַּר-צִן עַל־ יְדֵי אֱדוֹם וְהָיָה לָכֶם גְּבוּל נֶגֶב מִקְצֵה יָם הַמֶּלַח קֵדְמָה:

4 וְנָסַב לָכֶם הַגְּבוּל מִנגֶב לְמַעֲלֵה עַקְרַבִּים וְעָבַר צִנָה וחיי ק' וְהָיָה תּוֹצְאֹתָיו מִנֶגֶב לְקָדֵשׁ בַּרְנֵעַ וְיָצָא חֲצַר־־אַדָּר

וְעָבַר עַצְמְנָה : 5 וְנָסַב הַגְּבוּל מֵעַצְמִוֹן נַחְלָה מִצְרָיִם וְהָיוּ תּוֹצְאֹתָיו הַיָּמָּה: 6 וּגְבוּל יָם וְהָיָה לָכֶם הַיָּם הַגָּדוֹל וּנְבָל זֶה-יִהְיֶה לָכֶם גְּבוּל יָם: 7 וְזֶה־־יִהְיֶה לָכֶם גְּבוּל צָפוֹן מִן־הַיָּם הַפָּרל תְּתָאוּ לָכֶם הַר הָהָר :

• A TAROTH-SHOPHAN js but one name, so that the comma between them is wrong.

This chapter containeth the several marches through the wilderness, which cannot all be found in the several narratives, the places being expressed under other names; and some are omitted, nothing material having happened in them.-However, I must here observe, that in this passage several objections may be formed : as first, Wby was Moses so particular in mentioning every journey which they bad taken, as it may be asked of what utilicy is so prolix an account of thein ? Second, Why did he make use of the expression, “ And these are the journeys of the children of Israel, which went forth out of the land of Egypt,” for it is well known that that was the people that went forth out of Egypt? Third, Wherefore did be twice make use of the expression their goings out? For it is first observed, “ And Moses wrote their goings out according to their journeys." Again, “ And these are their journeys according to their goings out." To all which it may be answered, that it is of great utility thus to particularise every journey, in order that all nations might be informed of the extraordinary great miracles and wonders which
