upyour bodies a living Sacrifice holy and acceptable unto God, which u your reasonable ferving of God; thefe then that facrifice their Soules and Bodies by Repentance fhall be affured to have a part in Christs facrifice. If thy eye offend pull it out, the ninth of Marke and the fourty seventh verfe, apply by thy repentance Chrifts paffion to thy felf and Paul the first to the Corinthians, the second chapter and the fecond verfe faith, be efteemeth the knowledge of nothing but of Fefus Chrift and him crucifyed; And the Tree of life is fenced with Cherubyms, which is taken for knowledge, and the Sword for power. Paul in the firft to the Celoßians and the 24 verfe, Rejoyceth in his afflictions to fulfill the rest of the fufferings of Chrift in his flesh, And Chrift himself by his fufferings entred into glory the twenty fourth of Luke and the twenty fixt verfe; and if we with a contrite heart, in repentance, make a Sacrifice of our fenfuall and bruitish affections, and with patience beare our afflictions, we fhall paffe with Chrift to everlafting glory; the Angel fhall lay down his Sword, the Cherubyms fhall become our friends, we shall be partakers of Chrifts Sacrifice, which worketh reconciliation between God and man, and the wrath of God being appealed, then followeth the reftoring of us to the heavenly Paradife, And to him that overcommeth Godwill give to eate of the Tree of life in the middeft of the Paradife of God, the fecond of the Revelations and the feventh verfe. Deinde Adam cognovit Chavvam uxorem fuam: quæ ubi concepit Gen 4. x.
peperit Kajinum, dixit, acquifivi virum à Fehova. Poftea
pergens parere, peperit fratrem ipfius Hebelum :

HIS continuance of the story of Mofes begins to February 7
fet forth the increase of the world, after Adam 1598.
and Eve were expelled Paradife. The fum of all
fet downe in this Chapter to that end, is of
two parts. First, the propagation of man-
kinde. Secondly, the partition of man-
kinde, fet out in Cain and Abell. The propa-
gation is the fulfilling of that Prophefic of Adam, who foretold
of his wife that the should be, mater viventium, in the third chapter
and the tewentith verfe, and it is indeed a resemblance of the tree of
life, in that by means hereof, albeit life cannot continue in any
fingular perfon because of the Sentence pronounced by God, that
as hee is duft, fo shall hee returne to dust, Chapter the third; yet there
is immortalitas fpeciel, that is, a perpetuall fucceffion of life in the po-
fterity of Adam: Asa Tree, albeit in the end of the yeere it cafts
his leaves, yet ftill there remaines a fubftance of life in it, which
makes it fend forth leaves again, Efay the fixt and the thirteenth
verfe, fo it is in mankinde; for as the old life falls, fo there rifeth
up a new. When the Father dieth, the Child stands up in his place,
and fo is life ftill preferved. This is done by generation, which is
a kinde of creation; as it is faid of Adam, that he begat a Child in his
own likeness, after his Image, Genefis the fifth and the third verfe: For
as there is in God diffufiva virtus, whereby he communicateth his
goodneffe to others; fo it is a thing to bee defired, that Adam ha-
ving received life should fhew the fame to others; that when Adm
dyeth Cain and Abell iffued up in his ftead, which defire is so planted
in man, that albeit God when he faid to Adam, that in forrow and
the fweat of his browes he fhould eate his owne bread, told him, that hee
fhould have enough to doe to get a living for himfelfe; yet Adam
being fearce able to provide for himselfe, begetteth children; And
