Acts 17.11. These were more noble than those in
Theffalonica, in that they received the word with
all readineß of mind, and fearched the Scrip-
tures daily, whether those things were fo.
V. 12. Therefore many of them believed: alfo of
the honourable women, which were Greeks, and
of men not a few.

Luke 16.29. Abraham faith unto him, they have
Mofes and the Prophets, let them hear them.
V.31. And he faid unto him, if they hear not Mo-
fes and the Prophets, neither will they be perfwa-
ded though one rofe from the dead.

2 Pet 1.19.We have also a more fure word of Prophefie, whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that hineth in a dark place, untill the day dawn, and the day ftar arife in your hearts. V.20. Knowing this first, that no prophefie of the Scripture is of any private interpretation. V.21. For the Prophefie came not in old time by the will of man, but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

2 Tim.3.15. And that from a child thou haft
known the holy Scriptures, which are able to
make thee wife unto falvation, through Faith
which is in Chrift Fefus.

V.16. All Scripture is given by inspiration of
God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,
for correction, for instruction in righteousnesse.
V.17. That the man of God may be perfect,
throughly furnished unto all good works.

Luke 10.16. What is written in the Law? how readest thon?

Rom.15.4. For whatsoever things were written afore time, were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.

Deut. 17.18. And it shall be, when he fitteth upon the Throne of his Kingdome, that he shall write him a Copy of this Law in a book, out of that which is before the Priests the Levites. V.19. And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the daies of his life, that he may learn to fear the Lord, bis God, to keep all the words of this Law, and thefe ftatutes to do them. Pla'.19.7. The Law of the Lord is perfect converting the foul; the Teftimony of the Lord is fure making wife the fimple.

Pfal.119.9. Wherewithall shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

V.105. Thyword is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my paths.

V.13. The entrance of thy words give blight, it giveth understanding unto the fimple. Pfal.147.19. He fhewith his word unto Faceb, his ftatutes and his Fudgments unto Ifrael. V.20. He hath not dealt fo with any Nation, and as for his Fudgments they have not knowa them. Praise ye the Lord.

Mat.4.4. But he answered and faid, it is written, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. V.7. Fefus faid unto him, it is written again, thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. V.10. Then he faith unto him, get thee hence Satan: for it is written, thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou ferve. Eph.2.20. Luke 24.27. And beginning at Mofes, and all the Prophets, he expounded unto them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. V.44. And he faid unto them, these are the words which I pake unto you,while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Mofes, and in the Prophets, and in the Pfalmes concerning me. Rom.3.2. Much every way, chiefly because unto them were committed the Oracles of God. Gal1.8. But though we, or an Angel from Heaven preach any other Goffel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accurfed.

V.9. As we faid before, fo fay I now again, if any man preach any other Gospel unto you, than - that ye have received, let him be accurfed. 2 Pet.3.15. And account that the long fuffering of the Lord is falvation, even as our beloved Brother

Brother Paul alfo, according to the wisdom given unto him, hath written unto you. V.16. As alfo in all his Epiftles, speaking in them of these things: in which are fome things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned, and unstable, wrest, as they do alfo the other Scriptures, unto their own deftruction. Mat.22.29. Fefus answered, and faid unto them, ye do erre not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.

V.31. But as touching the refurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken to you by God, Jaying.

Col.3.16. Let the word of Chrift dwell in you richly, in all wifdom, teaching, and admonishing one another in pfalmes, and hymnes, and Spiritual Songs, finging with Grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Fourthly, Live continually as in the view of God, as in his fight,and prefence, being careful to approve thy heart,and all thy waies unto him. Remember there is a broad, and a pure eye of Glory alwaies fixed upon thee God fees hearts, as we fee faces. There are three things in the heart of man to be especially heeded, and obferved. Principles, Projects, and Ends, God fees what Principles thou acteft from. Hee fees all the projects aud contrivances that are forging in thy breaft;

breaft; and he fees what are the ends thou aimeft at in all thy undertakings. That is pure Religion, that eies God rather than man. In all tby actions therefore, whether natural, moral, or fpiritual, be carefull ftill to defigne the Glory of

God.

1. In naturall Acts, labour to have fuperna. tural aimes, 1 Cor.10.31. Whether ye cat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the Glory of God.

2. In civill Acts, such as the discharge of the duties of thy relations, be careful so to walk as defigning that God may have Glory by thy Faithfulneffe. For fo the Apoftle adviseth, Eph. 6.1. Children obey your Parents in the Lord, for this is right. V.5. Servants be obedient to them that are your Mafters, according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in fingleness of heart as unto Chrift. V.6. Not with eie-fervice as men pleafers, but as the fervants of Chrift, doing the will of God from the heart. And Titus 2.9,10. Exhort Servants to be obedient to their own Mafters, and to please them well in all things, not answering again. V.10. Not purloyning, but shewing all good fidelity, that they may adorn the Doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

3. In fpiritual Acts, such as praying, praifing God, and worshipping of him, be especially careful that thy aimes be fpiritual. Do ye faft to me, even to me? faies God, by the Prophet,
