227. Is God jealous?

Ex. 20. 5. I the Lord thy God am a jealous God. Ex. 34. 14. The Lord, whose name is jealous, is a jealous God.

Num. 25. 11. Phineas. the son of Eleazer, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel (while he was jealous for my sake among them) that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy.

Dt. 4. 24. The Lord thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.

Ezk. 36. 5. Surely in the fire of my jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the heathen, and against all Idumea, which have appointed my land into their possession.

228. Is God just?

Dt. 32. 4. A God of truth, and without iniquity, just and right is he.

Job 8. 3. Doth God pervert judgment? Or doth the Almighty pervert justice?

Job. 37. 23. He is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice.

Ps. 89. 14. Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne.

229. Is God merciful and gracious?

Ex. 34. 6. The Lord God merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin.

Num. 14. 18. The Lord is long-suffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty.

Dt. 4. 31. (For the Lord thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers, which he sware unto them.

Neh. 9. 17. Thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kind

Ps. 100. 5. The Lord is good: his mercy is everlascing; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Ps. 103. 8. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and plenteous in mercy. He will not always chide; neither will he keep his anger forever. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us acording to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy towards them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.

Ps. 119. 64. The earth, O Lord, is full of thy mercy. Joel 2. 13. Turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

Jonah 4. 2. Thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.

Mic. 7. 18. Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger forever, because he delighteth in mercy.

230. Is God perfectly righteous?

Gen. 18. 25. That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked; and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

Dt. 32. 4. He is the Rock, his work is perfect; for all his ways are judgment; a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.'

Job 31. 12. Surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.

Ps. 11. 7. The righteous Lord loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.

Ps. 48. 10. Thy right hand is full of righteousness. Ps. 33. 4. The word of the Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth. He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.
