And the angel answered, and said unto the women, Fear not ye : For I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. Mat. He is not here ; for he is risen, as he said : Come, see the place where the Lord lay. Mar. He is risen, he is not here : Behold the place where they laid him. Luke And it came to pass, as they were much per plexed thereabout, behold two men stood by them in shining garments, (viz. after they had gone down to the bottom of the sepulchre, in consequence of the invitation given them by the angel wbo first appeared to them.) And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto thein, Why seek ye the living famong the dead? Why are ye come with spices to embalm him, as if he were still dead.? He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. Mar. But go your way, tell his disciples, and Peter, That he goeth before you into Galilee. Mat.
