And immediately, while he yet spake, the cock crew. 61 And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter; and Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him; Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny 62 me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

And the men that held Jesus, mocked him, and 64 smote him; and when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying; Prophesy, who is it that smote thee? 65 And many other things blasphemously spake they against him.


And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people, and

when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by, struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying; Answerest thou the 23 high priest so? Jesus answered him; If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil; but if well, why 24 smitest thou me? Now Annas had sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest.

27 When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put 2 him to death. And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.



This is one of them. And be denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter; Surely thou art one of them; for thou art a Galilean, and thy speech agreeth thereto. But he began to curse and to swear, saying; I know not this man of whom ye speak. And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him; Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice. And when he thought thereon, he wept.

15 And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes, and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.



Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the 4 thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying; I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. 5 And they said; What is that to us? see thou to that. And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and depart6 ed; and went and hanged himself. And the chief

priests took the silver pieces, and said ;. It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.


11 And Jesus stood before the governor; and the governor asked him, saying; Art thou



And Pilate asked him; Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering,



23 And the whole multitude 28. of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.

Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment; and it was early. And they themselves went not into the judgment-hall, lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the passover.


7 And they took counsel and bought with them the potter's 8 field, to bury strangers in. Wherefore that field was called, 9 the field of blood, unto this day. Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying; "And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value, 10 and gave them for the potter's field; as the Lord appointed

Pilate answered; Am I a Jew? thine own nation and the chief priests, have delivered thee unto me; what hast thou 36 done? Jesus answered; My kingdom is not of this world; if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now is my kingdom not 37 from hence. Pilate therefore said unto him ; Art thou a king then? Jesus answered; Thou sayest truth; for I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth, heareth my
