SONNE T.

D'shit with the love of Song my youth effay'd,

'ARCY, to thee, whate'er of happier vein,

This verfe devotes from ASTON's fecret fhade,
Where letter'd Eafe, thy gift, endears the scene.
Here, as the light-wing'd moments glide ferene,
I weave the bower, around the tufted mead
In careless flow the fimple pathway lead,
And ftrew with many a rofe the shaven green.
So, to deceive my folitary days,

With rural toils ingenuous arts I blend,
Secure from envy, negligent of praise,

Yet not unknown to fame, if D'ARCY lend His wonted finile to dignify my lays,

The Mufes Patron, but the Poet's Friend.
