the head over all things to the Church, which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. Eph. iv. 4, 5, 16. There is one body and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling, one Lord, one Faith, one Baptifm. From whom the whole Body fitly joined together, and compacted by that which every joint Supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body, unto the edifying of it felf in Love. 1 Cor. xii. 12, 13, 20. For as the body is one, and bath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: So alfo is Chrift. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. But now are they many members, yet but one body.

Q. Why do we believe this?

earth, that doth good,
If we say that we

have no fin, we deceive our felves, and the truth is

not in us.

Q. What is the Forgiveness of Sins?

A. The freeing us from the Punishment due to us for them, 2 Sam. xii. 13. And David faid unto Nathan, I have finned against the Lord; and Nathan faid unto David, the Lord alfo hath put away thy Sin; thon fhalt not die.

Q. How are our Sins forgiven?

A. Only for Chrift's fake, Eph. i. 7. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of Sins, according to the riches of his Grace. 1 John ii. 1, 2. My little children, thefe things write I unto that \ you, ye fin not. And if any man fin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jefus Chrift the righteous. And he is the propitiation for our fins : and not for ours only, but also for the fins of the whole world. Acts xiii. 38. Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of fins.

Q. What must we do towards it?

A. 1. Repent, 1 John i. 9. If we confess our fins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our fins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteoujnefs. Ezech. xviii. 30. Therefore I will judge you, O House of Ifrael every one according to his ways, faith the Lord God: Repent, and turn your felves from all your tranfgreffions, fo Iniquity shall not be your

ruin.

2. Believe the Gospel, Acts xvi. 31. And they faid, believe on the Lord Jefus Chrift and thou shalt be faved, and thy houfe. John iii. 16. For God Jo loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Q. What

Q. What follows hence?

A. That we should labour to obtain forgiveness of Sins, Pfal. xxxii. 1. Blessed is he whofe tranfgreffion is forgiven, whofe fin is covered.

The Resurrection of the Body.

Q. What is the meaning of that?

A. That the Bodies of all men that die fhall rife again to Life.

Q. Was this believed in the Old Testament?

A. Yes, Job xix. 25, 26. For I know that' my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth; and though after my skin, worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I fee God. Dan. xii. 2. And many of them that fleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, fome to everlafting life, and fome to Shame and everlasting contempt.

Q. What Examples were then of it?

A. The Widow of Zarephath's Child, I Reg. xvii. 21, 22. And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the Lord, and faid, O Lord my God, I pray thee let this child's foul come into him again." And the Lord heard the voice of Elijah, and the foul of the Child came into him again, and he revived. The Shuna

mite's Son, 2 Reg. 4. 35. Then he returned and walked in the house to and fro, and went up and ftretched himself upon him: and the child neefed feven times, and the child opened his eyes. Another, 2 Reg. xiii. 2. And it came to pass as they were burying a man, that behold they spied a band of men, and they caft the man into the Sepulchre of

Elifba;

Elifba; and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elifba, he revived, and stood upon his feet.

Q. What Proof in the new Teflament?

A. I Cor. XV. 12, 20. Now if Chrift be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you, that there is no refurrection of the dead. But now is Chrift rifen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that flept. Matth. xxii. 31, 32. But as touching the refurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Ifaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

Shall the fame Bodies arife?

A. Yes, John xx. 27. Then faith he to Thomas, reach hither thy finger, and behold my bands, and reach bither thy hand, and thrust it into my fide, and be not faithless, but believing. Rom. viii. 11. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jefus from the dead dwell in you; he that raised up Chrift from the dead, fhall alfo quicken your mortal bodies, by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Otherwife it is no Refurrection, John v. 28. Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the Graves shall hear bis

voice.

Q. Whofe Bodies fhall arife?

A. All, I Cor. xv. 12. For as in Adam all die, even fo in Chrift shall all be made alive.

Q. Why fhall all rife?

A. That they may be all judged, 2 Cor. v. 10. For we must all appear before the judgment-feat of Chrift; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether

it

it be good or bad. Matth. xxv. 32. And before him shall be gathered all Nations; and he shall feparate them one from another, as a Shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats.

Q. What use of this?

A. To make us prepare for it, Acts xxiv. 15,16. And have hope towards God, which they themselves alfo allow, that there shall be a refurrection of the dead, both of just and unjust. Ver. 16. And herein do I exercife my felf to have always a confcience void of offence toward God, and toward

men.

And the Life everlasting.

Q. What means that?

A. That all men when rifen fhall live everlast. ingly. Q. Where?

A. In Hell or Heaven, Dan. xii. 2. And many of them that fleep in the dust of the Earth shall awake, fome to everlasting life, and fome to fhame and everlasting contempt. John v. 29.
