THE BLIND LEADING THE BLIND.

INFIDELITY.

If the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.-MATT. XV. 14.

THAT the mind of man is incapable of being led by its own efforts to form correct notions of the Deity, and of that worship which is due to him, is evident from the obscurity and uncertainty in which the nations, most distinguished for their subtilty and depth of reason, were involved.

The schools of the Greek philosophers commenced about four hundred years before the Christian era a period sufficiently long to prove what unassisted reason can effect, yet how deficient the knowledge was, which it presented, either with regard to the sovereign
