Ifhall fhew thee what it is to live the life of Faith in these ten particulars,

1. Seek unto the Lord, and daily trust and depend on him for the affiftance of his holy Spirit, for Grace and ftrength effectually to enable thee, to fubdue thy corruptions, and to mortifie all finful vile affections in thee.

Luke 11.9. And I fay unto you, ask, and it shall be given you: feek, and ye shall find: knock, and it fhall be opened unto you.

V.io. For every one that asketh receiveth, and be that feeketh findeth, and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

V.II. If a Son shall ask bread of any of you that is a Father, will he give him a ftone or if he ask a fish, will be for a fish give him a Serpent?

V.12. Or if he ask an egge, will be offer him a Scorpion?

V.13. If ye then being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more fhall your Heavenly Father give the holy Spirit to them that ask him? Jam.4.5. Doye think the Scripture faith in vain, the Spirit that dwelleth in us lufteth to envy.

V.6. But he giveth more Grace: wherefore he faith, God refifteth the proud, but giveth Grace to the humble.

2 Cor. 129. And he faid unto me, my Grace is fufficient for thee; for my strength is made perfect in weakness, most gladly therefore will 1 rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Chrift may rest upon me.

Rom.6.14. For fin fball not have dominion over you, for ye are not under the Law, but under

Grace.

2. Truft in him to enable thee to resist and overcome the temptations wherewith thou shalt be affaulted from the Devil or the world.

Mat.6.13. Lead us not into temptation. 2 Chron.32.31. Howbeit in the bufineffe of the Am baẞadours of the Princes of Babylon, who fent unto bim to enquire of the wonder that was done in the Land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart.

V.9. Whom refift, stedfaft in the Faith. Jam.4.7. -Refift the Devil, and he will flee

from you.

1 John 2.15. Love not the world, nor the things that are in the world; if any man love the

world,

world, the love of the Father is not in him. V.16. For all that is in the world, the luft of the flesh, the luft of the eies, and the pride of life, is not of the Father.

1 John 5.4. What foever is born of God overcometh the world and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our Faith.

John 17.15! I pray not that thon shouldst take them out of the world, but that thou shouldft keep them from the evil.

V.20 Neither pray I for thefe alone, but for them alfo which fhall believe on me through their ward.

3. Humbly depend on him to afflift and enable thee to perform all the duties both of thy general and particular calling, with fincerity, ale ligence, and delight:

2 Cor.3.5. Not that we are fufficient of our felves to think any thing as of our felves, but our fufficiency is of God.

Phil:4 13. I can do all things through Chrift that ftrengthens mes

4. Truft in him to enable thee to bear all the afflictions he fhall please to lay upon thee, with patience, affiance in his mercy, and fubmiffion to his will.

Humbly depend on him for direction guidance in all thy lawful waies, and to be fell'd in difficult cafes, and matters of great ernment to thee.
