Korah, and all their goods. They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation.

DEATH OF NADAB AND ABIHU. Lev. x, 1, 2. And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense theron, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not. And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them; and they died be

Deut. xi, 6,7. And what he did unto Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, the son of Reuben; how the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their households, and their tents, and all the substance that was in their possession, in the midst of all Israel. But your eyes have seen all the great acts of the LORD

which he did.

P3. cvi, 17. The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.

WATER FROM THE ROCK IN
KADESH.

Num. xx, 8-10. Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink. And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him. And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?

HEALING.

Num. xxi, 8. And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a flery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.

PLAGUE.

Num. xvi, 46-50. And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and goquickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the LORD; the plague is begun. And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incense, and made an

atonement for the people. And, he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed. Now they that died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, beside them that died about the matter of Korah. And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the plague was stayed.

IN CONNECTION WITH JOSHUA.

JORDAN DIVIDED.

Joshua iii, 14-17. And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over Jordan, and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people; And as they that bare the ark were come unto Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water, (tor Jordan overfloweth all his banks all the time of harvest,) That the waters, which came down from above, stood, and rose up upon an heap, very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off; and the people passed over right against Jericho. And the priests, that bare the ark of the covenant of

the LORD, stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan,

Joshua iv, 16-18. Command the priests that bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of Jordan. Joshua therefore commanded the priests, saying, Come ye up out of Jordan. And it came to pass, when the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD were come up out of the midst of Jordan, and the soles of the priests' feet were lifted up unto the dry land, that the waters of Jordan returned unto their place, and flowed over all his banks, as they did before.

Ps. cxiv, 1-6. When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language; Judahwas his sanctuary, and Israel his dominion. The sea saw it, and

fled; Jordan was driven back. | The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs. What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou Jordan, that driven back? Ye thou wast mountains, that ye skipped like rams: and ye little hills, like lambs?

CAPTURE OF Jericho. Joshua vi, 20. So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

SUN AND MOON STAYED. Josh. x, 13, 14 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day. And there was no day like that before it, or after it, that the LORD hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel.

STORM.

Josh. x. 11. And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Beth-horon, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.

SUPERNATURAL STRENGTH

IN CONNECTION WITH
SAMSON.

A LION KILLED.

Judges xiv, 6. And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.

SLAUGHTER OF THE PHILISTINES. Judges xiv, 19. And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle: and his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father's house.

Judges xv, 7, 15. And Samson said unto them, Though ye have done this, yet will I be

avenged of you, and after that I will cease. And he found a new jaw-bone of an ass, and put forth his hand and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith.

PERSONAL STRENGTH.

Judges xv. 11-14. Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what is this that thou hast done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them. And they said unto him, We are come down to bind thee, that we may deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines.

And Samson said

unto them, Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves. And they spake unto him, saying, No; but we will bind thee fast, and deliver thee into their hand; but surely we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock. And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him; and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.

Judges xvi, 6-14. And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou might est be bound to afflict thee. And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another

man. Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withs which had not been dried, and she bound him with them. (Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber.) And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withs, as a thread of tow is broken when the it toucheth fire: so his Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, strength was not known. And thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray thee, bound. And he said unto her, If wherewith thou mightest be they bind me fast with new ropes, that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.

CARRYING THE GATES OF GAZA. Judges xvi, 1-3. Then went Samson to Gaza, and saw there an harlot, and went in unto her. And it was told the Gazites, saying, Samson is come hither. And they compassed him in, and laid wait for him all night in the gate of the city, and were quiet all the night, saying, In the morning, when it is day, we shall kill him. And Samson lay till midnight, and arose at midnight and took the doors of the gate of the city, and the two posts, and went away with them, bar and all, and put them upon his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of an hill, that is before Hebron.

DESTRUCTION OF DAGON'S
TEMPLE.

Judges xvi, 29, 30. And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left. And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein; so the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.

2 Sam. vi, 7. And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.

UPON THE MEN OF BETHSHEMESH

1 Sam. vi.19. And he smote the men of Bethshemesh, becausethey had looked into the ark of the LORD, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men. And the people lamented, because the LORD had smitten many of the people with a great slaughter.

And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him. The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the LORD. And the king

SACRIFICE CONSUMED BY FIRE.

1 Kings xviii, 33--38. And he put the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and fai

And he said, Do it the third time: and they did it the third time. And the water ran round about the altar; and he filled the trench also with water. And it came to pass, at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word. Hear me, O LORD, hear me; that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again. Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burntsacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that, was in the trench.

and the ground barren. And he
said, Bring me a new cruse, and

unto the spring of the waters, and
cast the salt in there, and said,

waters were healed unto this

Elisha which he spake.

sons of the prophets were sitting
before him: and he said unto his

thereof wild gourds his lap-full,

the pot of pottage: for they knew
them not. So they poured out

for the men to eat: and it came to
pass, as they were eating of the

pottage, that they cried out, and said, O thou man of God, there is death in the pot. And they could not eat thereof. But he said, Then bring meal: and he cast it into the pot; and he said, Pour out for the people, that they may eat. And there was no harm in the pot. And there came a man from Baal-shalisha, and brought the man of God bread of the first-fruits, twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of corn in the husk thereof. And he said, Give unto the people, that they may eat. And his servitor said, What! should I set this before an hundred men? He said again, Give the people, that they may eat: for thus saith the LORD, They shall eat, and shall leave thereof. So he set it before them, and they did eat, and left thereof, according to the word of the LORD.

CHILD RESTORED TO LIFE. Elisha was come into the house, 2 Kings iv, 32-35. And when behold, the child was dead, and laid upon his bed. He went in therefore, and shut the door upon LORD. Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was, (but the servants which drew the water knew,) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now. This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

DRAUGHT OF FISHES. Luke v, 1-7. And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets. And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have tolled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. And they beckoned unto their partners, which should come and help them. And were in the other ship, that they they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.

TEMPEST CALMED.

Mark iv, 35-41. And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow; and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the

wind, and said unto the ser. Pence, be still. And the wind ce sed, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him.

FIVE THOUSAND FED.

Luke ix, 12-17. And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve, and said unto him, Send the multitue away, that they may go into the towns and country round about, and lodge, and get victuals: for we are here in a desert place. But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more but five loaves and two fishes; ex cept we should go and buy meat for all this people. (For they were about five thousand men.) And he said to his disciples, Make them sit down by fifties in a company. And they did so, and made them all sit down. Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude. And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.

CHRIST WALKING ON THE SEA. Matth. xiv, 26-32. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit: and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come
