God is one. Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid; for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. But the Scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise, by faith of Jesus Christ, might be given to them that believe. The Gospel. St. Luke x. 23.

BLESSED are the eyes which see the things that ye see: For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them. And behold a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? How readest thou? And

he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live. But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And

Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stript him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. And by chance there came down a certain Priest that way; and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other

side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, and went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine; and set him on his own beast, and brought him into an inn, and took care of him. And on the morrow, when he departed, he took out two-pence, and gave them to the host, and

said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? And he said, He that showed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise,

ALMIGHTY and everlast-
ing God, give unto us the
increase of faith, hope, and cha-
rity; and that we may obtain
that which thou dost promise,
make us to love that which thou
dost command, through Jesus
Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Epistle. Gal. v. 16.
Say then, Walk in the Spirit,
and ye shall not fulfil the
lust of the flesh. For the flesh
lusteth against the Spirit, and
the Spirit against the flesh; and
these are contrary the one to the
other; so that ye cannot do the
things that ye would. But if
ye be led by the Spirit, ye are
not under the law. Now the
works of the flesh are mani-
fest, which are these, Adultery,
fornication, uncleanness, lasci-
viousness, idolatry, witchcraft,
hatred, variance, emulations,

wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they who do such things, shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, good. ness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh, with the affections and lusts.

The Gospel. St. Luke xvii. 11. ND it came to pass, as Jesus went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, who stood afar off. And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go show yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but

EEP, we beseech thee, O
Lord, thy Church with thy

E see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand. As many as desire to make a fair show in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh. But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God. From henceforth let no man trouble me, for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus. Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen. The Gospel. St. Matt. vi. 24.

life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your

For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, of whom the whole family in heawould grant you, according to ven and earth is named, that he the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend, with all saints, what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, unto him be glory in the Church, by Christ Jesus, throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you, by taking thought, can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they toil not, neither do they spin; and yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to-day is, and to-morrow is cast into the oven; shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (for after all these things do the Gentiles seek :) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow; for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself: sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

AND it came to pass the day

after, that Jesus went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people. Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow and much people of the city was with her. And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not. And he came and touched the bier, (and they that bare him stood still) and he

said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak: and he delivered him to his mother. And there came a fear on all and they glorified God, saying, that a great Prophet is risen up among us; and, that God hath visited his people. And this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judea, and throughout all the region round about.

The Collect. LORD; we may always pret we pray thee, that thy grace vent and follow us; and make us continually to be given to all good works, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. The Epistle. Ephes. iv. 1. Therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you, that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with long-suffering, forbearing one another in love; endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

The Gospel. St. Luke xiv. 1. T came to pass, as Jesus went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread, on the Sabbath-day, that they watched him. And behold, there was a certain man before him, who had the dropsy. And Jesus answering spake unto the Lawyers and Pharisees, saying,

Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath-day? And they held their peace. And he took him, and healed him, and let him go; and answered them, saying, Which of you shall have an ass or an ox fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the Sabbath-day? And they could not answer him again to these things. And he put forth a parable to those who were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them, When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest

room, lest a more honourable him; and he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin

with shame to take the lowest room. But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. For whosoever exalteth himself, shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted.

The Gospel. St. Matt. xxii. 34.
WHEN the Pharisees had
heard that Jesus had put
the Sadducees to silence, they
were gathered together. Then
one of them, who was a lawyer,
asked him a question, tempting
him, and saying, Master, which
is the great commandment in
the law? Jesus said unto him,
Thou shalt love the Lord thy
God with all thy heart, and with
all thy soul, and with all thy
mind: This is the first and
great commandment. And the
second is like unto it, Thou
shalt love thy neighbour as thy-
self. On these two command-
ments hang all the law and the
prophets. While the Pharisees
were gathered together, Jesus
asked them, saying, What think
ye of Christ? whose son is he?
They say unto him, The son of
David. He saith unto them,
How then doth David in Spirit
call him Lord, saying, The Lord
said unto my Lord, Sit thou on
my right hand, till I make thine
enemies thy footstool? If David
then call him Lord, how is he
his son? And no man was able
to answer him a word, neither
durst any man, from that day
forth, ask him any more ques-

tions.

The Epistle. Ephes. iv. 17. THIS HIS I say therefore, and henceforth walk not as other testify in the Lord, that ye Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind; having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: who, being past feeling, have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But ye have not so learned Christ; if so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off, concerning the former conversation, the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind: and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not let not the sun go down upon your wrath: neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole, steal no more; but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Let no corrupt
