The Gofbel. Luke xv. 1. HEN drew near unto him all the publicans and finners, for to hear him. And the Pharifees and fcribes murmured, faying, This man receiveth finners, and eateth with them. And he fake this parable unto them, faying, What man of you, having an hundred theep, if he lofe one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is loft, until he find it? And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his fhoulders, rejoicing. And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, faying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my theep which was lot. I fay unto you, that likewife joy thall be in heaven over one finner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine juft perfons which need no repentance. Either what woman having ten pieces of filver, if the lofe one piece, doth not light a candle, and fweep the houfe, and feek diligently tif the find it? And when the hath found it, the calleth her friends and her neighbours together, faying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had loft. Likewife, fay unto you, There is joy in the prefence of the angels of God over one finner that repenteth.

of the creature waiteth for the manifeftation of the fons of God. For the creature was made fubject to vanity, not willingly, but by reafon of him who hath fubjected the fame in hope; because the creature itfelt alto fhall be delivered from the bondage of. corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves alfo, which have the firft-fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

E ye therefore merciful, as your Father alio is merciful. Judge not, and ye fhall not be judged: condemn not, and ye thall not be condemned: forgive, and ye fhall be forgiven: give, and it fhall be given unto you; good measure, preifed down, and thaken together, and running over, fhall men give into your bofom. For with the fame meature that ye mete withal, it shall be meafured to you again. And he spake a parable unto them: Can the blind lead the blind? thail they not beth fall into the ditch? The difciple is not above his mafter: but every one that is perfect fhall be as his mafter. And why beholdeft thou the more that is in thy brother's eye, but perceive not the beam that is in thine own eye? Either how canft thou fay to thy brother, Brother, let me pull out the mote that is in thine eye, when thou thyfelf beholdest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite! caft out firft the beam out of thine own eye, and then thalt thou fee clearly to pull out the mote that is in thy brother's eye.

The Epistle. 1 Pet. iii. 8.

BE ye all of one mind, having compaffion one of another; love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing; but contrariwife bleffing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye thould inherit a bleffing. For he that will love life, and fee good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they fpeak no guile: let him efchew evil, and do good; let him feek peace, and enfue it. For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? But and if ye fuffer for righteoufnefs' fake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; but fanctify the Lord God in your hearts.

The Gospel. Luke v. 1.
T came to pass, that, as the

hear the word of God, he food by the lake of Gennefaret, and faw two fhips fianding by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were wathing their nets. And he entered into one of the fhips, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thruft out a little from the land. And he fat down, and taught the people out of the hip. Now when he had leftfpeaking, he faid unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon anfwering faid unto him, Malier, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. And when they had this done, they inclofed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other thip,

that they thould come and help them. And they came, and filled both the hips, fo that they began to fink. When Simon Peter faw it, he fell down at Jesus'

knees, faying, Depart from me; for I am a finful man, O Lord. For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken: and fo was alfo James and John, the fons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jefus faid unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou fhalt catch men. And when they had brought their fhips to land, they forfook all, and followed him.

The Epistle. Rom. vi. 3.

KNOW ye not, that fo many

of us as were baptized into Jefus Chrift were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptifm into death; that like as Chrift was raifed up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even fo we alfo thould walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we thall be alfo in the likeness of his resurrection: knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of fin might be destroyed, that henceforth we fhould not ferve fin. For he that is dead is freed from fin. Now if we be dead with Chrift, we believe that we fhall alfo live with him: knowing that Chrift, being raif-) ed from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto fin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth

unto God. Likewife reckon ye alfo yourfelves to be dead indeed unto fin, but alive unto God Chrough Jefus Chrift our Lord.

The Gospel. Matt. v. 20. ESUS faid unto his difciples, Except your righteoufnefs fhall exceed the righteousness of the fcribes and Pharifees, ye hall in no cafe enter into the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there remembereft that thy brother hath ought against thee, leave here thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; firft be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift. Agree with thine adverfary. quickly, whiles thou art in the way with im; left at any time the adver. ary deliver thee to the judge, and he judge deliver thee to the offer, and thou be caft into prifon. What fruit had ye then in thofe things whereof ye are now afhamed? for the end of thofe things is death. But now being made free from fin, and become fervants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness; and the end, everlafting life. And his difciples anfwered him, From whence can a man fatisfy thefe men with bread here in the wilderness? And he atked them, How many loaves have ye? And they faid, Seven. And he commanded the people to fit down on the ground: and he took the feven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his difciples to fet before them; and they did fet them before the people. And they had a few fmall fifhes: and he bleffed, and commanded to fet them alfo before them. So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left feven bafkets. And they that had eaten were about four thoufand: and he fent them away.

RETIREN, we are debtors,

the flesh. For if ye live after the feth, ye fhall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye thall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the fons of God. For ye have not received the fpirit of bondage again, to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit iuelf beareth witnefs with our fpirit, that we are the children of God: and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Chrift; if fo be that we fuffer with him, that we may be alfo glorified together.

The Gospel. Matt. vii. 15.
EWARE of false prophets,

But with many of them God was not well pleafed; for they were overthrown in the wilderness. Now thefe things were our examples, to the intent we thould not luft after evil things, as they alfo lufted, Neither be ye idolaters, as were fome of thein; as it is written, The people fat down to and drink, and rofe up to play. Neither let us commit fornication, as fome of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thoufand. Neither let us tempt Chrift, as fome of them

clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves: ye fhall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thiftles? Even fo every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit, is hewn down, and caft into the tire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that faith unto me, Lord, Lord, fhall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

The Epistle. 1 Cor. x. 1.

BRETHREN, I would not that ye thou. be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all paffed through

ed of ferpents. Neither murmu. ye, as fome of them alto mur-) mured, and were deftroyed of the deftroyer. Now all thefer things happened unto them for enfamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. Wherefore let him that! thinketh he ftandeth take heed left he fall. There hath no temptation taken you but fuch as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not fuffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation alto make a way to efcape, that ye may be able to bear it."

The Gospel. Luke xvi. 1.

ESUS faid unto his difciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a fteward; and the fame was accufed unto him that he had wafted his goods. And he called him, and faid unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy ftewardhip; for thou mayeft be no longer fteward. Then the fteward faid within himself, What thall I do, for my lord; taketh away from me the few

admin? cannot dig; to beg I am athamed. I am refolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the ftewardship, they may

"receive me into their houfes. So he called every one of his lord's debtors unto him, and faid unto the first, How much oweft thou unto my lord? And he faid, An bundred meafures of oil. And he faid unto him, Take thy bill, and fit down quickly, and write fifty. Then faid he to another, And how much oweft thou? And he faid, An hundred meatures.of wheat. And he faid unto him,

Take thy bill, and write four: fcore. And the lord commended the unjuft fteward, because he had done wifely: for the children of this world are in their generation wifer than the children of light. And I fay unto you, Make to your felves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ve fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.

The Epiftle. 1 Cor. xii. 1. ONCERNING fpiritual gifts, Co brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto thefe dumb idols, even as ye were led. Wherefore I give you to underfland, that no man fpeaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jefus accurfed; and that no man can fay that Jefus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. The Gospel. Luke xix. 41. AND when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, faying, If thou hadft known, even thou, at leaft in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days fhall come upon thee, that thine enemies fhall caft a trench about thee, and compafs thee round, and keep thee in on every fide, and fhall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they fhall not leave in thee one ftone upon another; becaufe thou kneweft not the time of thy vifitation. And he went into the temple, and began to caft out them that fold therein, and them" that bought; faying unto them, It is written, My houfe is the houfe of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves. And he taught daily in the temple.
