When the Saviour was in the world, a great many sick people came to him, and he cured them. Here are some blind people, and one is a poor blind child,-who have come to ask the kind Saviour to heal their eyes, and give them sight again. Will the Saviour heal them? O, yes; he is a tender-hearted Saviour. He casts none away who come unto him. He invites all to come and tell him their sorrows and their pains, and he will remove them. But how did the Saviour cure the blind? He only touched their eyes, and said, "Receive thy sight." O, what a powerful Being, who can cure the blind with his word! Just as God said, "in the beginning," "Let there be light, and there was light," so the Saviour spake, and light came into the darkened eyes of the blind.

66

Sin blinds the eyes of the mind and heart. Has not sin blinded your eyes? O, then, go to the dear Redeemer, for he came into the world "to give sight to the blind," and he will say, Receive thy sight." Then will the light shine into your minds, and your hearts will be filled with the joy of his love.

New Year's Present.

It is the opinion of not a few, and they have acted according to that opinion, that there can hardly be a more appropriate or interesting new year's present, for the members of a Sabbath school class, or for any child or family of children, for fifty cents, than the SABBATH SCHOOL VISITER. This present has an advantage over the present of a book,-it is repeated every month in the year. A book is admired, and perhaps attentively and profitably read; but soon it becomes old, and is laid aside. Not so with this little periodical. It makes a

new visit every month; and it brings new attractions for the youthful reader. Parents might make this new year's present to their children; many teachers might do the same to each of their scholars; and perhaps the scholars would like to unite and present a copy to their teachers; and many of the friends of Sabbath schools might, for a small sum, cause smiling faces and joyous hearts, every month, among the children in many families of the poor.

The Visiter for 1840.

This number closes the present volume of the Visiter, and we would remind agents and subscribers of our rule, viz.: "To send the Visiter to no one, excepting agents who become responsible, and those who are entitled to the work gratuitously, unless paid for in advance."

The present month is the time for old subscriptions to be renewed, and for new ones to be procured; and we would respectfully invite the assistance of all the friends of the Society, in extending the circulation of this little work for the coming year.

If PASTORS could speak of it publicly, some Sabbath the present month, and request subscriptions to be left with an agent, or with the superintendent, or with themselves, they would do an important service for the Society. Superintendents, teachers and scholars can also aid in this work.

Notices of New Publications by the Society.

It is believed that this book will introduce a new era in the history of Infant Sabbath schools. Price 12 cents.
