'They saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and worshipped Him: and

they presented unto Him gifts.'

AKEN, Christian children!
Up and let us sing,
With glad voice, the praises
Of our new-born King.

2 Up! 'tis meet to welcome
With a joyous lay

Christ, the King of Glory,
Born for us to-day.

m 3 Come, nor fear to seek Him,
Children though we be;

Once He said of children,

One bright star outshineth,
Watching silently.

6 Fear not then to enter,

Though we cannot bring Gold, or myrrh, or incense Fitting for a King.

7 Gifts He asketh richer,
Offerings costlier still;
Yet may Christian children
Bring them if they will.
8 Brighter than all jewels

Shines the modest eye;
Best of gifts, He loveth
Infant purity.

mf 9 Haste we then to welcome With a joyous lay

Christ, the King of Glory,
Born for us to-day.

Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.'

NCE in royal David's city
Stood a lowly cattle-shed,

Where a mother laid her baby

In a manger for His bed.
Mary was that mother mild,
Jesus Christ her little Child.

mp 2 He came down to earth from heaven
Who is God and Lord of all,
And His shelter was a stable,
And His cradle was a stall.
With the poor and mean and lowly
Lived on earth our Saviour holy.

'He took them up in His arms, put His hands upon them, and blessed them.'

I THINK, when I read that sweet story of old,

When Jesus was here among men,

How He called little children as lambs to His fold,
I should like to have been with them then;

I wish that His hands had been placed on my head,
That His arms had been thrown around me,

And that I might have seen His kind look when He said,
'Let the little ones come unto Me.'
