Book of Isaiah

As a layman trying to understand the bible, I have generally found this book--and this particular book is one of three volumes---to be somewhat over my head, and it has therefore been gathering dust on the bookshelf nearly since the time I purchased it. But nonetheless, in my most foray into the work I have found it notwithstanding my personal shortcomings to be quite helpful. In the first section--there are forty sections covering the first eighteen chapters of Isaiah--the author's word-by-word analysis was just more than I could take, it obviously being targeted to those fairly familiar with the Hebrew language. My most recent study of Isaiah,however, pertains to the prophecies concerning "the land of the Gentiles," and I must say that even with it still being way over my head I found it to be quite helpful. I am reading this work side-by-side with Raymond Otlund's more recent one-volume work, which was written for readers at my level of knowledge and understanding, and the combination is proving to be a good fit.
