O my God, give me Grace to make a right Use and Improvement of this, and all other Opportunities thou art pleafed to put into my Hand; pardon, I most humbly befeech thee, my Unprofitablenefs under the Means of Grace; and, O merciful Father, let not my Sins provoke thee fo far as to deprive me of the Helps and Advantages of thy divine Institutions; but grant, O Lord, that I may spend this and all other Times fet apart for thy more immediate Service, in fuch a holy and religious Manner, as may promote thy Honour and Glory, and fet forward the Salvation of my Soul: And that I may be enabled fo to do, O let thy Grace and Holy Spirit be always prefent with me, for of myself I am not able to please thee.

Suffer me not, O merciful Father, to rest in a mere outward Form of Godliness; but grant that I may endeavour more and more to have my Heart animated and enlivened with the Spirit and Power of Religion, and to become a true Difciple of the blefled Jefus; by imitating his Example; observing his Precepts; and making it the conftant and principal Care and Concern of my Life, to promote thy Honour, and my own and others Salvation.

Let thy good Spirit, O Lord, be powerfully affifting to the Labours and Endeavours of thofe, to whom thou haft committed the Care of Souls, particularly of him, under whofe Ministry thy Providence has placed me.

Give thy Bleffing to thy holy Word preached, and remove from me, and all that attend thy holy Ordinances, all Prejudices and Indifpofitions of Mind, that nothing may hinder its due and faving Efficacy upon our Souls. MAKE me duly mindful, O Lord, of all those who are under my Care; and grant that none of my Family may, thro' any Neglect of mine, be ever wanting in their Duty towards thee. Let the Care of my own Soul be extended likewife to a Concern for theirs; and give me fuch a Zeal for thy Glory, fuch a true Regard for the Salvation of others, that I may endeavour (as much as in me lies) to promote Religion and Piety in all about me. Convince me truly, O Lord, how much it is my Duty, as well as Intereft, that I and my Houfe fhould ferve thee; that we should daily offer up our united Prayers and Praises at the Throne of Grace, and efpecially upon this Day fet apart more particularly for thy Service. O GOD! who art rich in Mercy to all that call upon thee; and haft bid us pray without ceafing, and rejoice evermore: In Obedience to that Command, and encou raged by thy gracious Promifes, I again approach thy Prefence; To renew my Requefts unto thee; To blefs thy holy Name; To make Profeffion of my Love to thee; and of my Readinefs in all Things to obey thee. Quicken my Affections, O Lord, that I may be excited to a more free and joyful Attendance upon thee in all holy and religious Duties; that no Dulness nor Wearinefs may feize upon my Spirits ; but fuch a perfect Love to thee may poffefs my Heart, as may render all the Employments of Religion pleasant and delightful to me, and the doing thy Will my greatest Joy and Satisfaction.
