from the heart. 7. With good-will doing service, as to the Lord, and not unto men: 8. Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

Col. iii. 22. Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, &c. 24. Knowing, that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance for ye serve the Lord Christ.

V. To GOOD KINGS and MAGISTRATES.

Deut. xvii. 18. And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests of the Levites. 19. And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life; that he may learn to fear the Lord his God, to keep all the words of this law, and these statutes, to do them: 20. That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left; to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he and his children, in the midst of Israel.

Prov. xvi. 12. The throne is established by righteousness.

Prov. xx. 28. Mercy and truth preserve the king, and his throne is upholden by mercy.

Prov. xxix. 14. The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever.

Is. xxviii. 56. In that day shall the Lord of Hosts be for a spirit of judgment to them that sit in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate..

VI. TO OBEDIENT SUBJECTS.

1 Pet. ii. 13.

Submit yourselves to every ordi

nance of men for the Lord's sake; whether it be to the king, as supreme; 14. Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evil-doers, and for the praise of them that do well. 15. For so is the will of God, that with well-doing you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.

Eccl. viii. 5. Whoso keepeth the commandment (the king's) shall feel no evil thing; and a wise man's heart discerneth both time and judgment.

VII. TO FAITHFUL MINISTERS.

Luke xii. 42. Who is that faithful and wise steward whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? 43. Blessed is that servant whom his Lord, when he cometh, shall find so doing. 44. Of a truth, I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.

Matt. xxviii. 20. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.

1 Tim. iv. 16. Take heed unto thyself, and to the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this, thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

1 Pet. v. 1. The elders which are among you, I exhort, 2. Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; 3. Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock: and when the chief shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

Dan. xii. 3. And they that be wise shall shine

as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness, as the stars, for ever and ever.

Is. xxxii. 20. Blessed are ye that sow beside all waters, and send forth thither the feet of the ox and the ass.

Is. xliv. 4. Then I said, I have laboured in vain, I have spent my strength for nought, and in vain; yet surely my judgment is with the Lord, and my work with my God.

John iv. 36. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal; that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.

Rev. ii. 1. These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand.

Ps. cxxxii. 16. I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.

Jer. xxxi. 14. And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the Lord.

Jer. i. 7. The Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child; for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee; and whatsoever I command thee, thou shalt speak. 8. Be not afraid of their faces, for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord. 19. They shall fight against thee, but shall not prevail against thee, for I am with thee, saith the Lord, to deliver thee.

Jer. xv. 19. Thus saith the Lord, If thou return, then will I bring thee again, a thou shal stand before me and if thou take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth; let them return unto thee, but return not thou unto them. 20. And I will make thee unto this people, a fenced brazen wall, and they shall fight against thee, but

they shall not prevail against thee, &c. 21. And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked; and I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible.

Jer. xx. 11. The Lord is with me as a mighty terrible one; therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed, for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.

Ezek. iii. 8. Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads. 9. As an adamant, harder than flint, have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.

Matt. x. 19. And when they shall deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak; for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. 20. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

Luke xxi. 15. I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not resist.

Deut. x. 9. Levi hath no part nor inheritance with his brethren; the Lord is his inheritance, accord.ng as the Lord thy God promised him.

Deut. xxxiii. 11. Bless, Lord, his [Levi's] substance, and accept the work of his hands: smite through the loins of them that rise against him, and of them that hate him, that they rise not again.

VIII. To them that RECEIVE and HEARKEN to

MINISTERS.

Matt. x. 40. He that receiveth you, receiveth me; and he that receiveth me, receiveth him that sent me. (So John xiii. 20.) 41. He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall re

ceive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man, shall receive a righteous man's reward.

Luke x. 16. He that heareth you, heareth me. 2 Chron. xx. 20. Believe in the Lord your God, so shall you be established; believe his prophets, so shall you prosper.

IX. To LOVE and UNITY.

Ps. cxxxiii. 1. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! 2. It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard, that went down to the skirts of his garments. 3. As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for ever

To the Peace-makers.-Mat. v. 9. the peace-makers; for they shall be called the children of God.
