And the people believed: and when they heard that the Lord had visited the children of Israel, and that he had looked upon their affliction, then they bowed their heads and worshipped. Exodus iv. 31.

Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established. 2 Chron. xx. 20.

Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen; that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there is no God formed, neither shall there be after me. This people have I formed for myself, they shall shew forth my praise. Isaiah xlii. 10, 21. So the people of Ninevah believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sack cloth, from the greatest of them even unto the least of them. And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not. Jonah iii. 5, 10.

And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb. He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God: and being fully persuaded that what he had promised, he was able also to perform.. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. Rom. iv. 19-22.

Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. And the scrip

Whose carcases fell in the wilderness?· And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? So we see they could not enter in because of unbelief. Heb. iii. 17-19 If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.. Isa. vii. 9.

They would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the Lord their God. And the Lord rejected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of spoil-ers, until he had cast them out of his sight. 2 Kings xvii. 14.

And the Lord spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel; therefore shall not ye bring this congregation into the land which I have given them. Num. xx. 12.

And the Lord said unto Moses, How long will this. people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have shewed among them? I will smite them with the pestilence, and disinherit them.. Num. xiv. 11, 12..

Ye did not believe the Lord your God. And the Lord heard the voice of your words, and

ture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gos. pel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. Gal. iii. 6, 8.

When God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee. And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. Heb. vi. 13—15.

was wroth, and sware, saying, Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see the good land which I sware to give unto your fathers, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh. Deut. i. 32, 34-36.

They believed not his (God's) word: therefore he lifted up his. hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness: to overthrow their seed also. among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands. Psl. cvi. 24, 26, 27.

Promises to those who exercise Faith in Christ.

And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him; and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. And their eyes were opened. Matt. ix. 28-30.

While ye have the light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of the light. John xii. 36.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go to my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do. If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it. John xv. 12-14..

Threatenings against Unbelievers.

Jesus saith unto them, Verily, I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not; but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterwards, that ye might believe him. Matt. xxi. 31, 32.

Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith. 1 Tim. v. 12.

The Lord of that servant will come in a day that he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him asunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. Luke xii. 46.

If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Matt. xvii. 20.

Jesus answered, and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, if ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig-tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever, ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. Matt. xxi. 21, 22.

As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. John i. 12.

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water: (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive.) John vii. 38, 39.

Jesus saith, unto her,(Martha,) Said I not unto thee, that if thou wouldst believe, thou shouldst see the salvation of God? John xi. 40.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Acts xvi. 31.

Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. Whosoever believeth in him shall not be ashamed. Rom. x. 4, 11.

If we believe that Jesus died,

If ye believe not I am he, ye shall die in your sins. John viii. 24.

They received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause

God shall send them strong delusions, that they should believe a lie: that they all might be damned who believed not the truth. 2 Thes. ii. 10-12.

He that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John iii. 18.

He that believeth not shall be damned. Luke xvi. 16,

Whatsoever is not of faith is sin. Rom. xiv. 23.

He that rejecteth me, and re ceiveth not my word, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him at the last day. John xii. 48.

Reprobate concerning the faith. But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men. 2 Tim. iii. 8, 9.

Cursed children: which have

and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 1 Thes. iv. 14.

He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life; and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 1 John v. 10-13.

Justification.

In the Lord shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory. Isaiah xlv. 25.

By his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Isaiah liii. 11.

By him (Christ) all that believe are justified from all things, from which they could not be justified by the law of Moses. Acts xiii. 39. Being justitied freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. The justifier of him that believeth in Christ Jesus. We conclude, that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Rom. iii. 24, 26, 28.

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.. Rom. v. 1.

Condemnation.

If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maran-atha. I Cor. xvi. 22.

A man that is an heretick, after the first and second admonition, reject; knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself. Titus iii. 10, 11. By thy words thou shalt be condemned. Matt. xii. 37.

This is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. John iv. 19.

By the offence of one, judg ment came upon all men to condemnation. Rom. v. 18..

There is therefore, now, no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit. Whom he called, them he also justified; and whom he justified, them he also glorified. Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth, who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Rom. viii. 1, 30, 33, 34.

He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Cor. V. 21.

A man is not justified by the deeds of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law. Gal. ii. 16.

The law was our school-master, to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. Gal. iii. 24.

I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, and be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith. Phil. iii. 8, 9.

That being justified by his.

There are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation; ungodly men, turning the grace of God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. Jude 4.

The ungodly shall not stand in the judgment. Psalm i. 5.

As many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written: Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. Gal. iii. 10.

Whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. James ii. 10.

Thou hast defiled my sanctuaries, by the multitude of thine iniquities, by the iniquity of thy traffick; therefore will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of them that behold thee. All they that know thee among the people shall be astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more. Ezek. xxviii. 18, 19.
