Your heart shall live that seek God. For the Lord heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners. Ps. lxix. 32, 33.

Those that seek me early shall find me. Prov. viii. 17.

Ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. I will be found of you, saith the Lord; and I will turn away your cap. tivity, and I will gather you from all nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the Lord. Jer. xxix. 13, 14.

Thus saith the Lord unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall live. Amos v. 4.

Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turn

I will utterly consume all things from off the land, saith the Lord. And them that worship the host of heaven upon the house-tops; and them that worship, and that swear by the Lord, and that swear by Malcham; and them that are turned back from the Lord; and those that have not sought the Lord, nor enquired for him. Zeph. i. 2, 5, 6.

Ye shall seek me, and die in your sins. John viii. 21.

I, even I, will tear and go away; I will take away, and none shall rescue him. I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face. Hosea v. 14, 15.

Salvation is far from the wicked: for they seek not thy statutes. Ps. cxix. 155.

They shall seek me early, but shall not find me. Prov. i. 8.

The pride of Israel testifieth to his face: and they do not return to the Lord their God, nor seek him for all this. I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven; I will chastise them as their congregation hath heard. Woe unto them! Hosea vii. 10, 12, 13.

I hate and despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies. Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts. Amos v. 21, 22, 27.

The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of

Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment: seek righteousness, seek meekness; it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord's anger. Zeph. ii. 3.

Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help, and stay on horses, and trust in chariots; but look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord. Isaiah xxxi. 1.

Faith.

All things are possible to him that believeth. Mark ix. 23.

Dost thou believe on the Son of God? John ix. 35.

And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest be baptized. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Acts viii. 37.

Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves: know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? 2 Cor. xiii. 5.

The life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Gal. ii. 20.

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Eph. vi. 16.

Unbelief.

He did not many works there because of their unbelief. Matt. xii. 58.

Divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude. Acts xix. 9.

He (Christ) said unto them, (the Chief Priests and the Scribes,) If I tell you, ye will not believe. Luke xxii. 67.

Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief. Matt. xvii. 19, 20.

Afterwards he (Christ) appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. Mark xvi. 14.

I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you. Hab. i. 5.

Many of them which heard the word believed, and the number of the men was about five thousand. Acts iv. 4.

Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand. By which also ye are saved. So we preach, and so ye believed.. 1 Cor. xv. 1, 11.

Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word. John xvii. 20.

Causes of Unbelief.

The God of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not; lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 2 Cor. iv. 4.

The love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1 Tim. vi. 10...

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to. seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their consciences seared with a hot iron; forb.dding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe, and know the truth. 1 Timothy iv. 1—3.

Ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. John x. 26..

And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath-days reasoned with them out of the Scriptures; affirming and alleging that Christ must needs have suffered and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ. And some of them believed. Acts xvii. 24.

The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart; that is, the word of faith which we preach. How shall they preach, except they be sent?as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things.So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Rom. x. 8, 15-17.

After that in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching, to save them that believe. 1.Cor. i. 21.

Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life.. Luke viii. 12-14.

How can ye believe which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour which cometh from God only? Had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me. But if ye believe not his writings, how can ye believe my word? John. v. 44, 46, 47.

The heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; least they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted. Acts xxviii. 27.

Faith exercised in God.

And he (Abraham) believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness. Gen. XV. 6.

Consequences of Unbelief towards God.

A fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel; because they be lieved not in God. Ps. lxxviii. 21, 22.
