be glad in the Lord, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory. Psl. lxiv. 9, 10.

Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the loving kindness of the Lord. Psal. cvii. 43.

When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the Lord, and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple. Jonah ii. 7.

When he came to himself he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise, and go to my father. Luke xv. 17, 18.

Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things. 2 Tim. ii. 7.

may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them! And the harp, and the viol, the tabret and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the Lord, neither consider the operation of his hands. Isaiah v. 11, 12.

O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end. Deut. xxxii. 29.

Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver. Psalm 1. 22.

They have not known nor understood; for he hath shut their eyes that they cannot see, and their hearts that they cannot understand. And none considereth in his heart. Isaiah xliv. 18, 19.

Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, but hast fretted me in all these things; behold, therefore, I also will recompense thy way upon thine head, saith the Lord God. Ezek. xvi. 43.

when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations whither the Lord thy God hath driven thee; and shalt return unto the Lord thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul; that then the Lord thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return, and gather thee from all the nations whither the Lord thy God hath scattered thee.. Deut. xxx. 1-3.

And Samuel spake unto all' the house of Israel, saying, if ye do return unto the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the Lord, and serve him only; and he will deliver you out of the hands of the Philistines. 1 Sam. vii. 3.

When they in their trouble did turn unto the Lord God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them. 2 Chron. xv. 4.

If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up. Job xxii. 23.

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Isaiah lv. 7.

Thus saith the Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, all the evil that I have pronounced against them; because I have spoken unto them, but they have not heard; and I have called unto them, but they have not answered. Jer, XXXV. 17.

Thou hast sinned: therefore will I cast thee as profane out of the mountain of God; and I will destroy thee. Ezekieli xxviii. 16.

If the wicked turn not, God will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready he hath also prepared for him the instruments of death. Psalm vii. 12, 13.

They slew the prophets which testified against them to turn them to thee: therefore thou de→ liveredst them into the hands of their enemies. Neh. ix. 26, 27..

Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the Lord; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you. Jer. iii. 12.

Return, and I will heal your backslidings. Jer. iii. 22.

At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy: if that nation turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them. Jer. xviii. 7, 8.

If the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and do that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live, he shall not die. His sins shall not be mentioned unto him; in his righteousness that he hath done, he shall live. Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked shall die, saith the Lord God; and not that he should return from his ways and live? Ezek. xviii. 21-23.

Repent, and turn from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. Ezekiel xviii. 30.

As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn ye, turn ye, from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel? Ezek. xxxiii. 11.

They have not served thee in thy great goodness, neither turned from their wickedness; behold, they are servants to great distress. Neh. ix. 35, 36. I will destroy my people, since they return not from their ways. Jer. xv. 7.

If thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness; he shall die in his iniquity, but thou hast delivered thy soul. Ezek. iii. 9.

He openeth their ear to discipline, and commandeth them that they return from iniquity. If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their lives in pleasure: if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and die without knowledge. Job xxxvi. 10-12.

I know Ephraim, and Israel is not hid from me. They will not frame their doings to turn unto God. Hosea v. 3, 4.

Gray hairs are here and there upon Ephraim, yet he knoweth it not. The pride of Israel doth testify to his face; and they do not return to the Lord their God, nor seek him for all this. Woe unto them, for they have fled from me: destruction unto them, because they have transgressed against me. They return, but not to the Most High. Hosea vii. 9, 10, 13, 16.

A lion out of the forest shall slay them. Jer. v. 6.

O Israel, return unto the Lord, for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity. Take with you words, and say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously. Hosea xiv. 1, 2.

Therefore also now saith the Lord, Turn ye even to me, with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning and rend your hearts, and not your garments; and turn unto the Lord your God; for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. Joel iii. 12, 13.

And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil that he had said he would do unto them, and he did it not. Jonah iii. 10.

Thus saith the Lord of Hosts, Turn ye unto me, and I will turn unto you. Zech. i. 3.

Turn to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope. Zech. ix. 12..

Why is this people slidden back, with a perpetual backsliding? they refuse to return: no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle. Jer. viii. 5, 6.

I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion to the house of Judah: I, even I will tear and go away: I will take away, and none shall rescue. Hosea v. 14.

The men of Nineve shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it; because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here. Matt. xii. 41.

I have given you cleanness of teeth, and want of bread: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord. Amos. iv. 6.

All this evil is come upon us; yet made we not our prayer before the Lord our God, that we might turn from our iniquities; therefore hath the Lord watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us. Dan. ix. 13, 14.

Repentance.

And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before

The Lord your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him. 2 Chron. XXX. 9.

Turn ye at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my Spirit upon you; I will make my words known unto you. Prov. i. 23.

Sorrow is better than laughter. Eccl. vii. 3.

If so be they will hearken, and turn every man from his

ly Ghost, and have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come; if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. Heb. vi. 4.

After thy hardness and im-penitent heart, thou treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath. Rom. ii. 5.

In that day did the Lord God of hosts call to weeping, and to mourning, and to baldness, and to girding with sackcloth and behold joy and gladness, slaying oxen, and killing sheep, eating flesh and drinking wine: let us eat and drink (say ye) for to-morrow we shall die. Isaiah xxii. 12. 13.

Woe unto you that laugh now; for ye shall mourn and weep. Luke vi. 25.

Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Luke xiii. 3.

The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it; because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and behold a greater than Jonas is here. Matt. xii. 41.

The sorrow of the world worketh death. 2 Cor. vii. 10.
