Thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee. Isa. xxx. 19.

Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. Işa. lviii. 9.

Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Jer. xxix. 12, 13.

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. Jer. xxxiii. 3.

And it shall come to pass in that day, I will hear, saith the Lord. Hos. ii. 21.

For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the Lord therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. Prov. i. 29, 31.

Ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof. I also will laugh at your calamity; and will mock when your fear cometh. Prov. i. 25, 26.

They say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways. What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him? His eye shall see destruction, and he shall drink the wrath of the Almighty. Job xxi. 14, 15, 20.

The Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts. If thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever. 1 Chron. xxviii. 9.

Now will I shortly pour out my fury upon thee, and accomplish mine anger upon thee; and I will judge thee according to thy ways, and will recompense thee for all thine abominations. Ezek. vii. 8.

And God saw the wickedness of man that it was great upon the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created, from the face of the earth. Gen. vi. 5, 7.

Woe to the rebellious children, saith the Lord, that take counsel, but not of me; and

them again to place them; for I have mercy upon them: and they shall be as though I had not cast them off: for I am the Lord their God, and will hear them. Zech. x. 6.

I will bring the third part through the fire; and I will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God. Zech. xiii. 9.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Matt. vii. 7, 8, 11.

All things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. Matt. xxi. 22.

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. John xv. 7.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto ye have asked

that cover with a covering, but not of my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin: that walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt! Therefore shall the strength of Pharaoh be your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion. Isaiah xxx. 1-3.

Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water? Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb. So are the paths of all that forget God. Job viii. 11-13.

Saul died of his transgression which he committed against the Lord, even against the word of the Lord, which he kept not; and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it; and enquired not of the Lord: therefore the Lord slew him. 1 Chro. x. 13, 14.

Ye have not because ye ask not. Jas. iv. 2.

Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the Lord. Psalm. xiv. 4.

They look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord! Yet he also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not

nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. John xvi. 23, 24.

There is no difference between the Jew and the Greek; for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Rom. x. 12, 13.

The prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. James v. 15, 16.

And whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1 John iii. 22.

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us. And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we de. sired of him. If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. 1 John v. 14-16.

call back his words; but will arise against the house of the evil doers, and against the help of them that work iniquity. Isa. xxxi. 1, 2.

I will also stretch out mine hand upon Judah, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and them that worship the host of heaven upon the house tops; and them that turned back from the Lord; and those that have not sought the Lord, nor enquired of him. Zeph. i. 4—6. As it is written in the law of Moses; all this evil is come upon us; yet made we not our prayer before the Lord our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth. Therefore hath the Lord watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us; for the Lord our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice. Dan ix. 13, 14.

All flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, the end of all flesh is come before me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Gen. vi. 12, 13.

Mine eye shall not spare thee, neither will I have pity: but I will recompense thy ways upon thee, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee: and ye shall know that I am the Lord. Ezek. vii. 4.

The Prayers of the Wicked rejected.

Thus saith the Lord, I will bring evil upon them; and though they cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them. Jer. xi. 11.

For what purpose is the mul titude of your sacrifices to me? saith the Lord. When ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you; yea, when ye make many prayers I will not hear: your hands are full of blood. Isaiah i. 11, 15.

He that turneth away his ear from hearing God's law, even his prayer shall be an abomination. Prov. xxviii. 9.

The sacrifices of the wicked are an abomination unto the Lord. Prov. xv. 8.

Let the prayer of the wicked become a sin. Psalm cix. 7.

If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me. Psalm lxvi. 11.

They shall cry unto the Lord, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings. Mic. iii. 4.

I hate, I despise your feastdays, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies; though you offer me burnt offerings I will not accept them; neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts. Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols. Amos v. 21-23.

Pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry nor

answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. Isaiah lxv. 24.

prayer for them; for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me in their trouble, Jer. xi. 14.

Consideration.

Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the Lord he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath; there is none else. Deut. iv. 39,

Thou shalt consider in thine heart, that as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee. Deut.. viii. 5.

Fear the Lord, and serve him in truth with all your heart; for consider how great things he hath done for you. 1 Samuel xii. 24.

Thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. Deut. viii. 18. Stand still and consider the wonderful works of God. Job xxxvii. 14.

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in it doth he meditate day and night. Psalm i. 1, 2.

They shall wisely consider of his doing. The righteous shall

Inconsideration.

Go to the ant, thou sluggard, consider her ways, and be wise. Prov, vi. 6.

Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear than to give the sacrifice of fools; for they consider not that they do evil. Eccl. v. 1.

He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others; because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways. Job xxxiv. 26, 27.

Because they consider not the works of the Lord, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up. Psalm xxviii. 5.

The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider. Isa. i. 3.

And they consider not in their hearts, that I remember all their wickedness: now their own doings have beset them about; they are before my face. Hosea vii. 2.
