The Unity of God.

OF GOD.

Hear, O Israel; the Lord our God is one Lord. Deut. vi. 4.

See now that I am he, even I am he, and there is no God with me. I kill and I make alive. I wound and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand. Deut. xxxii. 39.

Unto thee it was showed, that thou mightest know that the Lord he is God; there is none else beside him. Deut. iv. 35.

Hezekiah prayed before the Lord, and said, O Lord God of Israel, which dwellest between the Cherubims thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. 2 Kings xix. 15.

Thou art great, O Lord God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all we have heard with our ears. 2 Saml. vii. 22.

A Trinity in Unity.

There are three that bear witness in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost; and these three are one. I John v. 7.

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him. Gen. i. 26, 27.

The Lord God said, Behold the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil. Gen. iii. 22.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, the same was in the beginning with God. He was in the world, and the world was made by him. The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us; (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John i. 1, 2, 10, 14, 15.

Go to, let us go down and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. Gen. xi. 7.

Who is God, save the Lord? and who is a rock, save our God? 2 Saml. xxii. 32.

And he (Naaman) returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came and stood before him: and he said, Behold now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel. 2 Kings v. 15.

I beseech thee, save us out of his (Sennacherib's) hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the Lord God, even thou only. 2 Kings xix. 19.

Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen; that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be any after me. Isa. xliii. 10.

Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his Redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and besides me there is no God. Isa. xliv. 6.

Fear ye not, neither be afraid : have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? Ye are my witnesses. Is there a God besides me? Yea, there is no God; I know not any. Isa. xliv. 8.

There is none other God but one. To us there is but one God the Father. 1 Cor. viii. 4, 6.

God is one. Gal. iii. 20.

I and my Father are one. John x. 30.

When the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me. John xv. 26.

Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock over which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. Acts xx. 28.

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John xiv. 26.

And Jesus when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water; and lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him. Matt. iii. 16.

And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God; and saying, Lord Jesus receive my spirit. Acts vii. 59.

Of whom (the Jews) as concerning the flesh, Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Rom. ix. 5.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. 2 Cor.

xiii. 14.

The only true God. John xvii. 8.

There is one God, and there is none other but he. Mark xii. 32.

One God and Father of all, who is above all. Eph. iv. 6.

Thou believest there is one God: thou doest well. Jas. ii. 19.

Thomas answered and said, My Lord and my God. John XX. 28.

Who being in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God. Phil. ii. 6.

The acknowledgment of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ. Col. ii. 2.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Mat. xxviii. 19.

Spiritual Blessings in general promised.

The righteous shall hold on his way; and he that hath clean hands, shall wax stronger and stronger. Job xvii. 9.

All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him, and he will shew them his covenant. Psl. xxv. 10, 14.

The righteous shall flourish like the palm-tree, and grow like the cedar of Lebanon. Psl. xcii. 12.

Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. Psl. xcvii. 11.

To him that soweth righteousness, shall be a sure reward. Prov. xi. 18.

The fruit of righteousness is a tree of life. Prov. xi. 30.

Say ye to the righteous, it shall be well with him, for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. Isa. iii. 10.

Calamities of a spiritual nature in general denounced.

The wicked are overthrown and are not. Prov. xii. 7.

The Lord thy God hardened his (Sihon, King of Heshbon) spirit, and made his heart obstinate. Deut. ii. 30.

I will send plagues upon thine heart. Exod. ix. 14.

The Lord will smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart. Deut. xxviii. 28.

God hath set the world in their hearts. Eccl. iii. 11.

He sent leanness into their soul. Psl. cvi. 15.

Thou hast shut their heart from understanding; therefore thou shalt not exalt them. Job

xvii. 4.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ; according as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: according to the riches of his grace, wherein he hath abounded towards us in all wisdom and prudence. Eph. i. 3, 4, 7, 8.

As many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God. Gal. iv. 16.

The Lord stablish your hearts unblamable in holiness, before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints. 1 Thess. iii. 12, 13.

He hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us unto glory and virtue, whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises. 2 Pet. i. 3, 4.

The rest were blinded (according as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear,) unto this day. Rom. xi. 7, 8.

I gave them up to their own hearts' lust, and they walked in their own counsels. Psl. lxxxi.

12.

Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. Rom. ix. 18.

He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their hearts; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart and be converted. John xii. 40.

Pray.

What nation hath God so nigh unto him, as the Lord our God is in all things that we call upon him for? Deut. iv. 7.

If my people, which are called by my name; shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear

The wicked say, What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit shall we have, if we pray unto him? Job

xxi. 5.

The children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and forgat the Lord their God, and served Baalim and the groves. Therefore the anger of the Lord:

from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Mine eyes shall be open, and inine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. 2 Chron. vii. 14, 15.

The young lions do lack and suffer hunger; but they that seek the Lord, shall not want any good thing. Psalm xxiv. 10.

Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee. Job. xxii. 27.

The Lord hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the Lord will hear, when I call unto him. Psalm iv. 3.

This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his trouble. Psalm xxxiv. 6.

Call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. Psalm 1. 15.

In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me. Psalm lxxxvi. 7.

He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. Psl xci. 15, 16.

He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him; he will also hear their cry, and will save them. Psl. cxlv. 19.

He beareth the prayer of the righteous. Prov. xv. 29.

was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushan-rishathaim, king of Mesopotamia. Judges iii. 7. 8.

The wicked through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God; God is not in all his thoughts. Psalm x. 4.

There is none among them that calleth upon me. Woe unto them! for they have fled from me. They have not cried unto me when they howled upon their beds. Hos. vii. 7, 13, 14.

Pour out thy fury upon the heathen that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy name. Jer. x. 25.

My face will I also turn from them. I will do unto them after their own way, and according to their deserts will I judge them; and they shall know that I am the Lord. Ezek. vii. 22,27.

Hypocrites cry not when he bindeth them. Job xxxvi. 13.

Ye have said, It is vain to serve God. Mal. iii. 14.

They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy God, O Dan, liveth, and the manner of Beer-sheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again. Amos viii. 14.

I will cut off them that turned back from the Lord, and those that have not sought the Lord, nor enquired after him. Zeph. i. 4, 6.

Ye have not because ye ask not. James iv. 2.
