Man possesseth.

And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not curse the people, for they are blessed. Num. xxii. 12.

I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing. I will bless them that bless thee. Gen. xii. 2, 3.

In blessing, I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore. Gen. xxii. 17.

Ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water, and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. Exod. xxiii. 25.

The Lord blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake: and the blessing of the Lord was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field. Gen. xxix. 5.

He will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee; he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee. Deut. vii. 13.

There shall be no poor among you; for the Lord shall greatly bless thee in the land which

a wicked Man cursed.

And now thou art cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thy hand. Gen. iv. 11.

They are in the terrors of the shadow of death. He is swift as the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth: he beholdeth not the way of the vineyards. Job xxiv. 17, 18.

As he loved cursing, so let it come unto him; as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him. As he clothed himself with cursing like as with a garment, so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones. Psalm cix. 17, 18.

The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked. Prov. iii. 33.

I will make this house like Shiloh, and I will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth. Jer. xxvi. 6.

His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them. Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance. Job iv. 4, 5.

I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings; yea, I have cursed

the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it. Deut. xv. 4.

The Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto. And the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all that thou doest. Deut. xv. 10, 18.

And the ark of the Lord continued in the house of Obed-edom, the Gittite, three months: and the Lord blessed Obed-edom and all his household. 2 Saml. vi. 11.

Thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. Job i. 10.

The Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning, for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she-asses. He had also seven sons, and three daughters. Job. xlii. 12, 13.

Such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth. Psalm Xxxvii. 22.

Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord, that walketh in his ways, for thou shalt eat

them already, because ye did not lay it to heart. Mal. ii. 2.

But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes, that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee. Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field. Cursed shall be thy basket, and thy store. Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, and the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out. Deut. xxviii. 15-19.

Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant. Jer. xi. 3.

To the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to him that is good before God. Eccl. ii. 26.

The Lord will not spare him, but then the anger of the Lord and his jealousy shall smoke against that man; and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the Lord shall blot out his name from under heaven. Deut. xxix. 20.

They that be cursed of him shall be cut off. Psalm xxxvii. 22.

This is the curse that goeth forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that steal

the labour of thine hands; happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee. Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine, by the sides of thine house; thy children like olive plants round about thy table. Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the Lord. Psalm cxxviii. 1-3.

Thou Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield. Psal. v. 12.

eth shall be cut off as on this side, according to it; and every one that sweareth, shall be cut off as on that side, according to it: I will bring it forth, saith the Lord of Hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name; and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and consume it with the timber thereof, and the stones thereof. Zech. v. 3, 4.

He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the water springs into dry ground, a fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein. Ps. cvii. 34, 35.

Promises to the Stranger, the Widow and the Fatherless.

He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger in giving him food and raiment. Deut. x. 18.

O Lord, thou art the helper of the Fatherless. To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress. Psa. x. 14, 18.

Ye shall not afflict any widow or fatherless child: if thou afflict them in anywise and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry. Deut. xxii. 22.

Threatenings of so becoming, and concerning such.

Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow; let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg; let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places. Ps. cix. 9, 10.

The Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows, for every one is an hypocrite and evil doer. Isa. ix. 17.

Deliver up their children to the famine, and pour out their blood by the sword, and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and be widows, and let their men be put to death, let their young men be slain by the sword in battle. Jer. xviii. 21.

The Lord preserveth the strangers, and relieveth the fatherless and the widow. Psalm cxlvi. 9.

The Lord will establish the border of the widow. Psa. xv. 25.

Seek ye the peace of the city, whither I have caused you to be carried away captives; and pray unto the Lord for it for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace. Jer. xxix. 7.

Remove not the old land mark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless, for their Redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with thee. Prov. xxiii. 10, 11.

Leave thy fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let thy widows trust in me. Jer. xlix. 11.

In thee, the fatherless findeth mercy. Hos. xiv. 3.

I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless. Exod. xxii. 24.

As smoke is driven away, so drive them away. Psa. Ixviii. 2.

Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange God's in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land not yours. Jer. v. 19.

I will bring a sword upon you, saith the Lord God; and I will bring you out of the midst thereof, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you. Ezek. xi. 8, 9.

These two things shall come upon thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children and widowhood, they shall come upon thee in their perfection. Isa. xlvii. 9.

We are orphans and fatherless, and our mothers, widows. Our father's have sinned, and are not; and we have borne their iniquities. Lam. v. 3-7.
