They shall cry unto the Lord, because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them. Isaiah xix. 20.

In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near thee. Isa. liv. 14.

In the land shall be his possession in Israel: and my princes shall no more oppress my people. Ezek. xlv. 8.

I will encamp about mine house because of the army, because of him that passeth by, and because of him that returneth: and no oppressor shall pass through any more: for now have I seen with mine eyes. Zech. ix. 8.

And seeing one of them suffer wrong, he (Moses) defended him, and avenged him that was oppressed. Acts vii. 24.

And when we cried unto the Lord God of our fathers, the Lord heard our voice, and looked on our affliction, and our labour, and our oppression: and the Lord brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand. Deut. xxvi. 7, 8.

The oppressors are consumed out of the land. Isaiah xvi. 4.

Hear this, ye kine of Bashan, that are in the mountains of Samaria, which oppress the poor, which crush the needy.

The Lord God hath sworn by his holiness, that, lo, the day shall come upon you, that he will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fish-hooks. Amos iv. 1, 2.

Ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren. Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? 1 Cor. vi. 8, 9.

Thus hath the Lord of Hosts said, Hew ye down trees, and cast a mount against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her. Jer. vi. 6.

I will punish all that oppress them. Jer. xxx. 20.

This is the portion of a wick

ed man with God, and the heritage of oppressors, which they shall receive of the Almighty. If his children be multiplied, it is for the sword; and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread: those that remain of him shall be buried in death, and his widows shall not weep. Job xxvii. 13, 14, 15.

I will be a swift witness against all that oppress, and fear not me, saith the Lord. Mal. iii. 5.

Children promised.

I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered. Gen. xiii. 16.

In blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies. Gen. xxii. 17.

His seed shall become a multitude of nations. Gen. xlviii. 19.

The Lord thy God will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: thou shalt be blessed above all people; there shall not be male nor female barren among you. Deut. vii. 13, 14.

Thou shalt know also, that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth. Job v. 25.

The Lord shall increase you more and more, you and your children. Psalm cxv. 14.

I will, therefore, that the younger women marry, bear children, &c. 1 Tim. v. 14.

Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is his his reward. As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed. Psl. cxxvii. 3-5.

Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the side of thine house; thy children like olive-plants

Posterity cut off.

I will fan them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children. I will destroy my people, since they return not from their ways. Jer. xv. 7.

Their bows shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children. Isa. xiii. 18.

They shall die childless. Lev. xx. 20.

Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murderer. Give them, O Lord; what wilt thou give? give them a miscarrying womb, and dry breasts. Hosea ix. 13, 14.

These two things shall come to thee in a moment, in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood. Isaiah xlvii. 9.

Death is come up into our windows, and is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without. Jer. ix. 21.

I will kill her children with death. Rev. ii. 23.

Michal, the daugher of Saul, had no child, unto the day of her death. 2 Sam. vi. 23.

Thus saith the Lord, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days:

He blesseth the habitation of the just. Prov. iii. 33.

The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. Prov. iv. 18.

Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. Prov. ix. 9.

Blessings are upon the head of the just. The tongue of the just is as choice silver. The

The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth. The Lord shall laugh at him; for he seeth that his day is coming. Psalm xxxvii. 12, 13.

When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth. Prov. xi. 7.

The curse of the Lord is in the house of the wicked. Prov. iii. 33.

The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble. Prov. iv. 19.

His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sin. He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray. Prov. v. 22, 23.

Violence covereth the mouth of the wicked. The heart of the wicked is little worth. The

A just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again. Prov. xxiv. 16.

The way of the just is uprightness thou, most upright, dost weigh the path of the just. Isa. xxvi. 7.

He walked in my statutes, and hath kept my judgments, to deal truly: he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord. Ezek. xviii. 9.

The ways of the Lord are right, and the just shall walk in them. Hos. xiv. 9.

The just shall live by his faith. Hab. ii. 4.

The spirits of just men made perfect. Heb. xii. 23.

froward tongue shall be cut off. Prov. x. 6, 20, 31.

The name of the wicked shall rot. Prov. x. 7.

The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips. The wicked shall be filled with mischief. Prov. xii. 13, 21.

Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. Psalm xi. 6.

The wicked shall fall into mischief. Prov. xxiv. 16.

Thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put out their name for ever and ever. Psalm ix. 5.

The Lord knoweth how to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished. 2 Peter ii. 9.

The wicked shall be silent in darkness. 1 Sam. ii. 9.

At the end of the world, the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, and shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Matt. xiii. 49, 50.

The wicked is reserved to the day of destruction, they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath. Job xxi. 30.

To the Upright.

I was also upright before him, and have kept myselffrom mine iniquity. Therefore the Lord

Against the Hypocrite.

The Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fa

If thou wert pure and upright, surely, now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous. Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase. Job viii. 6, 7.

My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart. Psalm vii. 10.

The righteous Lord loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright. Psalm xi. 7.

Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly. Ps. xv. 1,2. The Lord knoweth the days of the upright; and their inheritance shall be for ever. They shall not be ashamed in the evil time; and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. Psalm Xxxvii. 18, 19.

Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace. Psalm

xxxvii. 37.

Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. Psl. xcvii. 11.

The generation of the upright shall be blessed. Wealth and riches shall be in his house, and his righteousness endureth for

therless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evil doer, and every mouth speaketh folly. Isa. ix. 17.

Thou hatest all workers of iniquity. The Lord will abhor the deceitful man. Ps. v. 5, 6.

I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets. Isa. x. 6.

The hypocrite's hope shall perish, whose hope shall be cut off. Job viii. 13, 14.

An hypocrite shall not come before him. Job xiii. 16.
