The Lord your God ye shall fear; and he shall deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies. 2 Kings xvii. 39.

The Lord will bless his people with peace. Psal. xxix. 11.

When a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. Pro. xvi. 7.

Ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace. Isa. lv. 12.

He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me, for there were many with me. Psal. lv. 18.

He preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked. Ps. xcvii. 10.

The Lord taketh my part with them that help me, therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me. Ps. cxviii. 7.

I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee. Acts xviii. 10.

We may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. Heb. xiii. 6.

Liberty promised.

And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim Li

Whosoever shall gather together against thee, shall fall for thy sake. Isaiah liv. 15.

I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword. Jer. xi. 22.

Wasting and destruction are in their paths. The way of peace they know not. Isa. lix. 7, 8.

I will cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, for the land shall be desolate. Jer. vii. 34.

They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame, and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought. Job. viii. 22.

The sword reacheth unto the soul. Jer. iv. 10.

Every tongue that riseth against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. Isa. liv. 17.

I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hands of them that seek their lives. Jer. xix. 7.

I will bring a sword upon you that shall avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy. Lev.xxvi.25.

Captivity Threatened.

Behold the Lord will carry thee away with a mighty capti

berty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you, and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family. Lev. xxv. 10.

He bringeth out those which are bound with chains. Psalm lxviii. 6.

The Lord looseth the prisoners. Psalm cxlvi. 7.

If any of thine be driven out unto the utmost parts of heaven, from thence will the Lord thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee. Deut. xxx. 4.

And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the Lord for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors. And it shall come to pass, that the Lord shall give thee rest from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve. Isa xiv. 2, 3.

I have raised him (Cyrus) up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build my city, and he shall let go my captives. Isa. xlv. 13.

Thus saith the Lord, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered. Isa. xlix. 25.

Thus saith the Lord, Ye have sold yourselves for nought, and ye shall be redeemed without money. Isa. lii. 3.

Is not this the fast that I

vity, and will surely cover thee. He will surely violently turn and toss thee like a ball into a large country, there shalt thou die. Isa. xxii. 17, 18.

To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron. Psal. cxlix. 8.

Bind him hand and foot. Matt. xxii. 13.

He shall die in the place whither they have led him captive, and shall see this land no more. Jer. xxii. 12.

Now therefore ye are cursed, and there shall none of you be freed from being bond-men, and hewers of wood, and drawers of water for the house of my God. Josh. ix. 23.

Judah shall be carried away captive all of it, it shall be wholly carried away captive. Jer. xiii. 19.

They shall be led away captive into all nations, and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles. Luke xxi. 24.

They are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph. Therefore now shall they go captive with the first that go captive. Amos vi. 6, 7.

All they that devour thee

When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad. Psl. liii. 6.

And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds. Jer. xxx. 8.

It shall come to pass in the latter days, that I will bring again the captivity of Elam, saith the Lord. Jer. xlix. 39.

Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more. For now will I break his yoke from off thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder. Nah. i. 12, 13.

shall be devoured; and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey. Jer. Xxx. 16.

The young men of Aven and of Phi-beseth shall fall by the sword; and these cities shall go into captivity. Ezek. xxx. 17.

Thus saith the Lord, Thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land; and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land. Amos. vii. 17.

They shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles. Luke xxi. 24.

Thou shalt beget sons and daughters, but thou shalt not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity. Deut. xxviii. 41.

I will cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith the Lord, whose name is the God of Hosts. Amos v. 27.

Their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the Lord. Amos i. 15.

He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity. Rev. xiii. 10.

The Oppressed comforted.

Behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them. Come now therefore, and I will send thee (Moses) unto Pharoah, that thou mayest bring forth my people the Children of Israel out of Egypt. Exod. iii. 9, 10.

Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage; and I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and drave them out from before you, and gave you their land. Judges vi. 8, 9.

And Samuel called the people together unto the Lord to Mizpeh; and said unto the children of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all kingdoms, and of them that oppressed you. 1 Sam. x. 17, 18.

And Jehoahaz besought the Lord, and the Lord hearkened uuto him: for he saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them. And the Lord gave Israel a saviour, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians. 2 Kings xiii. 4, 5.

Lord, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt

Oppressors threatened.

The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully. Therefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them. I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord God. Ezek. xxii. 29, 31.

Because he hath oppressed, and hath forsaken the poor; because he hath violently taken away an house which he builded not; surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired. Job. xx. 19, 20.

cause thine ear to hear: to judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the men of the earth may no more oppress. Psalm x. 17, 18.

Relieve the oppressed. Isaiah i. 17.

Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to let the oppressed go free? Isaiah lviii. 6.

The Lord will be a refuge for the oppressed in times of trouble. Psalm ix. 9.

For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord. Psalm xii. 5.

Lord, who is like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, and from him that spoileth him? Psalm xxxv. 10.

He shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor. Ps. lxxii. 4.

The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. Psalm ciii. 6.

Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand:-Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry. Psalm cvi. 42, 44.

Thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, the rod of his oppressor. Isaiah ix. 4.

They shall rule over their oppressors. Isaiah xiv. 2.

Lord will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them. Prov. xxii. 22, 23.

I will punish all that oppress them. Jer. xxx. 20.

He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, shall surely come to want. Prov xxii.

16.

I will feed them that oppress thee, with their own flesh Isa. xlix. 26.

I will put the cup of trembling into the hand of them that afflict thee. Isaiah li. 23.

He hath oppressed the poor and needy, hath spoiled by violence: shall he then live? he shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him. Ezek. xviii. 12, 13.

They covet fields and take them by violence, so they oppress a man and his house. Therefore, thus saith the Lord, Against this family do I devise evil. Mic. ii. 2, 3.

He that doeth wrong, shall receive for the wrong which he hath done. Coloss. iii. 25.

On the side of their oppressors there was power; but they had no comforter. Eccl. iv. I.

He shall break in pieces the oppressor. Psalm lxxii. 4.

I will be a swift witness against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless. Mal. iii. 5,
