to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day. 1 Kings viii. 61.

Now, set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God: arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the Lord God, to bring the ark of the eovenant of the Lord, and the holy vessels of God, into the -house that is built to the name of the Lord. 1 Chron. xxii. 19.

Know thou the God of thy Father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts. If ye seek him he will be found of thee. Take heed now; for the Lord hath chosen thee to build an house for the sanctuary; be strong, and do it. 1 Chron. xxviii. 9, 10.

Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. Put away from

thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee. Let thine eyes look right on. Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left. Remove thy foot from evil. Prov. iv. 23-27.

My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways. Prov. xxiii. 26.

Let love be without dissimulation. Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord. Rom. xii. 9, 11.

Beware ye of the leven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. For there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed. Luke xii. 1, 2.

the Lord, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us? Isa. xxix. 15.

Thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction. Deceitful men shall not live out half their days. Psalm lv. 23.

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised. For all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart. Jer. ix. 25, 26.

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied tn thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matt. vii. 22, 23.

The congregation of hypocrites shall be desolate. Job xv.

34.

He that speaketh flattery to his friends, even the eyes of his children shall fail. Job xvii. 5.

The hypocrite's hope shall perish: whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider's web. Job viii. 13, 14.

The Lord thy God is a con suming fire, even a jealous God. When thou shalt beget children and children's children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and shall do evil in the sight of the Lord thy God, to provoke him to anger; I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon perish, ye shall be utterly destroyed. Deut. iv. 24-26.

Then the Lord's wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield no fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the land which the Lord giveth you. Deut. xi. 17..

have foretold you all things. Take heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. Watch ye therefore, for ye know not when the master cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at cock-crowing, or in the morning; lest coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. And what I say unto you, I say unto all: Watch! Mark xiii. 23, 33, 35 -37.

Take heed therefore that the

light which is in thee be not darkness. Luke xi. 35.

Take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. Watch ye there. fore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. Luke xxi. 34, 36.

Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. John v. 14.

Let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. 1 Cor. x. 12.

Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit yourselves like men, be strong. 1 Cor. xvi. 13.

See then that ye walk circum. spectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Eph. v, 15, 6.

wickedness in their doings. I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more: all their princes are revolters. My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations. Hosea ix. 15, 17.

Both prophet and priest are profane; yea, in my house have I found their wickedness, saith the Lord. Wherefore their ways shall be unto them, as slippery ways in the darkness: they shall be driven on, and fall therein: for I will bring evil upon them. Jer. xxiii. 11, 12.

It came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods; and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God. And the Lord was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned away from the Lord God of Israel. Wherefore the Lord said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant, I will surely send the kingdom from thee. 1 Kings xi. 4, 9, 11.

They that forsake the Lord shall be consumed. Isa. i. 28.

Thou hast trodden down all them that err from thy statutes. Psal. cxix. 118.

Thus saith the Lord, Ye have forsaken me, and therefore have I also left you. 2 Chron. xii. 5.

The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. Thou shalt destroy them. Psl. v. 5, 6. R

Take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always, with all prayer and supplication, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication. Eph. vi. 13

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. Col. ii. 8.

Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving. Walk in wisdom toward those who are without, redeeming the time. Col. iv. 2, 5.

Watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist. 2 Tim. iv. 5.

Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. Heb. iii. 12.

Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about

Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord God of their fathers; for they went and served other gods whom they knew not; the anger of the Lord was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book: and the Lord rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day. Deut. xxix. 25—28.

The hand of God, his power, and his wrath is against all them that forsake him. Ezra viii. 22.

They were disobedient, and rebelled against thee, and cast thy law behind their backs. Therefore thou deliveredst them into the hand of their enemies, who vexed them. Neh. ix. 26, 27.

If thou forsake him, (God) he will cast thee off for ever. 1 Chron. xxviii. 9.

They said, We will walk after our own devices, and we will every one do the imagination of his evil heart. Therefore thus saith the Lord, I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy. Jer. xviii. 12, 13, 17.

The sword shall abide on his cities, and shall consume his branches, and devour them,

seeking whom he may devour: whom resist, stedfast in the faith. 1 Pet. v. 8, 9,

Let us fear, lest a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. Heb. iv. 1.

The end of all things is at hand; be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. 1 Pet. iv. 7.

Beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. 2 Pet. iii. 17, 18.

Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die. Rev. iii. 2.

Satan to be resisted by Watchfulness aud Prayer.

Be ye angry and sin not: letnot the sun go down upon your wrath; neither give place to the devil. Eph. iv. 26, 27.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not

because my people are bent to backsliding. Hosea xi. 6, 7.

They do always err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. So I sware in my wrath, that they shall not enter into my rest. Heb. iii. 10, 11.

O Lord, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the Lord. Jer. xvii. 13.

Because that, when they knew God they glorified him not as Cod, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened; God gave them up unto vile affections; receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. Rom. i. 21, 25, 27.

I have not found thy works perfect before God. Remember therefore, how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. Rev. iii. 2, 3.

Threatenings against those who are overcome by him.

Whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause, shall be in danger of the judgment. But whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. Matt. v. 22.

Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of
