All Sin to be hated, and all appearances of or occasions to Sin to be shunned.

There shall not be found among you, any one that mak eth his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observ. er of times, or a witch, or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. Thou shalt be perfect with the Lord thy God. Deut. xviii. 10, 11, 13.

Stand in awe, and sin not. Psl. iii. 4.

Ye that love the Lord, hate evil. Ps. xcvii. 10.

Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away. Prov. iv. 14, 15.

My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause: let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: we shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse: My son, walk not thou in the way with them; re frain thy foot from their path. Prov. i. 10-15.

Threatenings and Judgments against Sinners, announced or inflicted.

All that do these things are an abomination unto the Lord: and because of these abominations, the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee. Deut. xviii. 12.

Thou wilt destroy them that speak leasing: the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man. Psl. v. 6.

He shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the Lord our God shall cut them off. Ps. civ. 23.

Thine own wickedness shall correct thee. It is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the Lord thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord God of hosts. Jer. ii. 19.

The Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth nor mercy in the land. By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood. Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away. Hosea iv. 1—3.

The lips of a strange woman drop as an honey comb, and her mouth is smoother than oil, But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell. Hear me therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth. Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house. Prov. v. 3, 4, 5, 7, 8.

Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil. Isa. i. 16.

Let the wicked man forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto the Lord. Isa. lv.

Seek good, and not evil, that

If ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it. Isa. i. 20.

Your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear you. Isa. lix. 2.

A voice declareth from Dan, and publisheth affliction from mount Ephraim. Thy way and thy doings have procured these things unto thee; this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart. Jer. iv. 15, 18.

Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you. What will ye do in the end thereof? Jer.. v. 25, 31.

According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay: fury to his adversaries, recompence. to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence. Isa. lix. 18.

I will cause you to go into

ye may live: and so the Lord, the God of hosts, shall be with you. Hate the evil, and love the good. Amos v. 14, 15.

Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings; but they did not hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the Lord. Zech. i. 4.

If thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee. Matt. v. 29, 30.

The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day: not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying:-make no provision for the flesh to fulfil the lusts thereof. Rom. xiii. 12-14.

Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Rom. xii. 9, 17.

captivity, beyond Damascus, saith the Lord, whose name is the God of hosts. Amos v. 27.

O Lord, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction. Hab. i. 12.

Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light they practise it. Therefore thus saith the Lord, Behold, against this family do I devise evil, from which ye shall not remove your necks. Mic. ii. 1, 3.

Were they ashamed when they had committed abominations? Nay, they were not ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall; in the midst of their visitation they shall be cast down, saith the Lord. I will surely consume them, saith the Lord. Jer. viii. 12, 13.

Thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Cor. vi. 10.

The unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Cor. vi. 9.

Be ye angry, and sin not; let not the sun go down upon your wrath: neither give place to the devil. Let him that stole, steal no more. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth. Grieve not the holy Spirit of God. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from among you, with all malice. Eph. iv. 26-31.

Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children: but fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not once be named among you, as becometh saints. Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness. Eph. v. 1, 3, 4, 11.

Abstain from all appearance of evil. 1 Thes. v. 22.

Lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness. Jas. i. 21.

Let us lay aside every weight,

The sting of death is sin. I Cor. xv. 56.

Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Gal. v. 20, 21.

The judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things. Who will render to every man according to his deeds. Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil. Rom. ii. 2, 6, 9.

Woe to them, when I depart from them! for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more. Yea, though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb. Hosea ix. 12, 15, 16.

and the sin that doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Heb. xii. 1.

Let every one that nameth the name of Christ, depart from iniquity. Flee also youthful lusts. 2 Tim. ii. 19, 22.

Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Jas. iv. 8.

Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speaking; as new-born babes desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby. 1 Peter ii. 1, 2.

Sincerity towards God, and Zeal in his Service, commanded.

Enoch walked with God. Gen. v. 24.

Speak unto the children of Israel, that they may bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart, ye shall take my offering. Exod. xxv. 2.

This day the Lord thy God hath commanded thee to do those statutes and judgments: thou shalt therefore keep and do them with all thine heart, and all thy soul. Deut. xxvi. 16.

Fear the Lord, serve him with sincerity and in truth. Josh. xxiv. 14.

Let your heart therefore be perfect with the Lord our God,

sware, saying, Surely, there shall not one of this evil generation see this good land. Deut. i. 34, 35.

God shall shoot at them with an arrow; suddenly shall they be wounded. So shall they make their own tongues to fall upon themselves. Psalm lxiv. 7, 8.

The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God. Rev,

xiv. 10.

Mine anger shall be accomplished, and I will cause my fury to rest upon them, and they shall know that I the Lord have spoken it in my zeal, when I have accomplished my fury in them. Ezek. v. 13.

Threatenings against Insincerity and Lukewarmness.

If ye walk contrary unto me, I will bring seven sore plagues upon you, according to your sins. Lev. xxvi. 21.

I will declare thy righteousness and thy works; for they shall not profit thee. Isaiah lvii. 12.

Because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Rev. iii. 16.

The hypocrites in heart heap up wrath. Job xxxvi. 13.
