The grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love, which is in Christ Je.. sus. 1 Tim. i. 14.

The Lord, the righteous judge, will give a crown of righteousness to them that love him. 2 Tim. iv. 8.

Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Eph. vi. 24.

Whom not having seen, ye love. 1 Peter i. 8.

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. James i. 12.

Promises to those who put their trust in God.

And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not; stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew you to-day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to-day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The Lord shall fight for you. Exod. xiv. 13, 14.

He that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass him about. Psalm xxxii, 10.

He that loveth father or mother, son or daughter, more than me, is not worthy of me. Matt. x. 37.

Those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me. Luke xix. 27.

Jesus said, He that hateth me, hateth my Father also. John xv. 23.

All they that hate me love death. Prov. viii. 36.

Thy right hand shall find out all those that hate thee. Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger. The fire shall devour them. Psa. xxi. 8. 9

Threatenings against, and judgments inflicted upon, those who do not put their trust in God.

A fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel; because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation. Psalm lxxviii. 21, 22.

They shall know that I am the Lord, when I have set a fire in Egypt, and when all her helpers shall be destroyed. Ezek. xxx. 8.

Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. The salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble. And the Lord shall help them and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked; and save them, because they trust in him. Psa. xxxvii. 3, 5, 39, 40.

Blessed is the man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud. Psalm xl. 4.

Because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou shalt also be taken; and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity with his priests and his princes together. Another spoil. er shall come upon every city: and no city shall escape: the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed, as the Lord hath spoken. Jer. xlviii, 7, 8.

The destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together; and they that forsake the Lord shall be consumed. Isa. i. 28.

Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. Psl. cxlvi. 3, 4.

His own counsel shall cast him down. Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall drive him to his feet. strength shall be hunger-bitten, and destruction shall be ready at his side. Job xviii. 7, 11, 12.

Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord. For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; and shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land, and not inhabited. Jer.xvii 5, 6

Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are namaed chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came! Amos. vi. 1.

He that trusteth in his riches shall fail. Prov. xi. 28.

The Lord hath rejected thy confidences, and thou shalt not prosper in them. Jer. ii. 37.

Ephrahim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria. When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of heaven; I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard. Woe unto them! for they have fled from me: destruction unto them! they have not cried unto me with their heart. Hosea vii. 11-13, 16.

Thou hast trusted in thy wickedness: thou hast said, None seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in thine heart, I am, and none else besides me. Therefore shall evil come upon thee; thou shalt not know whence it riseth: and mischief shail fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put it off: and desolation shall come upon thee suddenly, which thou shalt not' know. Stand now with thine: enchantments, and with the' multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail. They shall wander every one to his quarter; none shall save thee. Isa xlvii. 10-12, 15.

When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them. Isaiah Ivii. 13.

I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy life shall be for a prey unto thee; because thou hast put thy trust in me, saith the Lord. Jer. xxxix. 18.

Leave thy fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let thy widows trust in me. Jer. xlix. 11.

The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble, and he knoweth them that trust in him. Nahum i. 7.

Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain; and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it. Zech. iv. 6, 7.

God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath; that by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us. Heb. vi. 17, 18.

There stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, saying, Fear Dot, Paul; thou must be brought before Cæsar; and, lo, God hath given thee all them that

They shall cast their silver in the street, and their gold shall be removed: their silver and their gold shall not be able to deliver them in the day of the wrath of the Lord: they shall not satisfy their souls, neither fill their bowels: because it is the stumbling-block of their iniquity. The Egyptians shall help in vain and to no purpose. Isa. xxx. 7.

I will scatter them as the stubble that passeth away by the wind of the wilderness. This is thy lot, the portion of thy measures from me, saith the Lord; because thou hast forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood. Therefore will I discover thy skirts upon thy face, that thy shame may appear. Jer. xiii. 24-26.

Wherefore gloriest thou in the valleys, thy flowing valley, O backsliding daughter? that trusted in her treasures, saying, Who shall come unto me? Behold I will bring a fear upon thee, saith the Lord God of hosts, from all those that are about thee; and ye shall be driven out every man right forth, and none shall gather up him that wandereth. Jer. xlix. 4, 5.

His confidence shall be rooted out of his tabernacle, and it shall bring him to the king of terrors. It shall dwell in his tabernacle, because it is none of his: brimstone shall be scat

sail with thee. Wherefore, Sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me. And it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land. Acts Xxvii. 23-25, 44.

Promises of a Covenant being made by God, and of Blessings connected.

I will set my tabernacle among you; and my soul shall not abhor you. And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people. My covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember. I will not cast them away, neither will I abhor them; to destroy them utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the Lord their God. But I will for their sakes remember the covenant of their ancestors, whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the heathen, that I might be their God: I am the Lord. Lev. xxvi. 11, 12, 42, 44, 45.

Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand genera

tered upon his habitation. His remembrance shall perish from the earth. He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world. He shall neither have son nor nephew among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings. They that come after him shall be astonished at his day, as they that went before were affrighted. Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked, and this is the place of him that knoweth not God. Job, xviii. 14-21.

Threatenings against those who break the Covenant.

Thus saith the Lord, I will prepare destroyers against thee, every one with his weapons: and they shall cut down thy choice cedars, and cast them into the fire; because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them. Jer. xxii. 6, 7, 9.

If thou do at all forget the Lord thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish. As the nations which
