the field shall yield their fruit. I will set my tabernacle among you; and my soul shall not abhor you. And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people. Lev. xxvi. 2, 3, 4, 11, 12.

When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the Lord thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice; (for the Lord thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers, which he sware unto them. Deut iv. 30, 31

Hear, therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the Lord God of your fathers hath promised thee. Deut. vi. 3.

Therefore shall ye keep all the commandments which I command you this day; that ye may be strong, and go in and possess the land, whither ye go to possess it. And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments, which I command you this day, to love the Lord your God, and to serve him with all your heart, and with all your soul. That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thy oil, &c. Deut. xi. 26, 27.

Behold, I set before you this

commandments, but that ye break my covenant: I also will do this unto you: I will even appoint over you terror, &c. &c.. And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies. And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins. Levit. xxvi. 14-18.

I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed. Deut. iv. 26.

That servant which knew his Lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. Luke xii. 47.

Take heed to yourselves that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, to serve other Gods, and worship them; and then the

Lord's wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heavens that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the Lord giveth you. Deut. xi. 16, 17.

A curse, if ye will not obey:

day, a blessing and a curse; a blessing if ye obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day. Deut. xi. 8, 13, 14.

It shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to serve and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all the nations of the earth: and all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God. (to the 14th verse inclusive.) Deut. xxviii. 1, 2.

If ye will fear the Lord, and serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the commandments of the Lord, then shall both ye and also the king that reigneth over you continue following the Lord your God. 1 Sam. xii. 14.

Whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven; the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. Matt. xii. 50.

Blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. Luke xi. 28.

Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of iny doors. Prov. viii. 34.

He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul. Prov. xix. 16.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my sayings be shall never die. John viii. 51.

Whatsoever things we ask, we receive of him, because we

the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods. Deut. xi. 28.

See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they es caped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven. For our God is a consuming fire. Heb. xii.. 25, 29.

If ye will not obey the voice of the Lord, but rebel against the commandment of the Lord, then shall the hand of the Lord be against you, as it was against your fathers. 1 Sam. xii. 15.

What shall be the end of them that obey not the gospel? 1 Peter iv. 17.

Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them. Gal. iii. 10.

He that turneth away his ear from hearing the Lord, even his prayer shall be abomination. Prov. xxviii. 9.

He that despiseth his ways shall die. Prov. xix. 16.

Ye shall die in your sins. John viii. 21.

This people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they

keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1 John iii. 22..

墨 He became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him. Heb. v. 9.

Whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the works, this man shall be blessed in his deed. Jas. i. 25.

Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have a right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Rev. xxii. 14.

are revolted and gone. Shall not I visit for these things? saith the Lord; shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? Jer. v. 25, 29.

The Lord Jesus shall be re

vealed from heaven with his

mighty angels, in flaming fire, taking vengeance on them that know not not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thes. i. 7, 8..

To them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish. Rom. ii. 8, 9.

If ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it. Isa. i. 20.

Promises of Ability for Obedience.

The Lord thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.-And thou shalt return and obey the voice of the Lord, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day. Deut.. xxx. 6, 8.

In Judah the hand of God was to give them one heart to do the commandments of the Ling and of the princes, by the word of the Lord. 2 Chron. Xxx. 12.

He (God) will teach us of is ways, and we will walk in

They have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations. I also will choose their, delusions.-Because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear. Isa. Ixvi. 3, 4,

The Lord hath rejected and. forsaken the generation of his wrath. Jer. vii. 29.

Behold, I am against thee, O thou most proud, saith the Lord

his paths: for out of Zion shall come forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. Isa. ii. 3.

Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power. Psl. cx. 3.

I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart. Jer. xxiv. 7.

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah. This shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Jer. xxxi. 31, 33.

They shall be my people, and I will be their God: and I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them: And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me. Jer. 'xxxii. 38, 39, 40.

I will turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the Lord, to serve him with one consent, Zeph. iii. 9.

Whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance, Matt. xiii. 12.

God of hosts: for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee. Jer. v. 31.

Evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. 2 Tim. iii. 13.

Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction. Psalm lxxiii. 18.

His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins. He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray. Prov. v. 22, 23.

I will hide my face from them, and will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith. Deut. xxxiii, 20,

But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall perish in their own corruption. 2 Pet. ii. 12.

Whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away, even that he hath, Matt, xiii, 12.

I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you: and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh; that they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be 'my people, and I will be their God. Ezekiel xi. 19. 20.

Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean; from all your filthiness, and from all your idols will I cleanse you. A new heart will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments and do them. Ezek. Xxxvi. 25-27.

God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear; unto this day. Rom. xi. 8.

God shall send them strong delusions, that they should believe a lie: that they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thes. ïì. 11, 12.

Promises of Comfort and Joy Threatenings of Misery and

to the Pious.

The Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song: he also is become my salvation. Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. Isaiah xii. 2, 3.

Ye shall rejoice in all that ye put your hand unto, ye and your household, wherein the Lord thy God hath blessed thee. Deut. xii. 7.

And thou shalt rejoice in every good thing which the Lord thy God hath given thee, and unto thine house. Deut. xxvi. 11.

Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the up

Sorrow, &c.

I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart. Lev. xxvi. 16.

The Lord shall give thee a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind. Deut. xxviii. 65.

The sorrows of a travailing woman shall come upon him. Hosea xiii. 13.

Terrors shall make him afraid on every side. His confidence
