It shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem; when the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughter of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof, by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning. Isaiah iv. 3, 4.

By this (chastisement) therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be purged; and this is all the fruit to take away his sin. Isaiah xxvii. 9.

Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it. Isaiah xlviii. 10, 11. This shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put iny law in their inward parts, and write them in their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people: I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sins no more. Jer. xxxi. 33, 34.

I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me, and I will pardon their iniquity whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against: me. Jer. xxxiii. 8.

God gave them (the Gentiles) up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts. Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto their vile affections: God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which were not convenient: being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, malieiousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, &c. &c. &c. Rom. i. 24, 25, 26, 28.

Woe to her that is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city. Zeph. iii. 1.

Who being past feeling, have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. Eph. iv. 19.

The Lord knoweth how to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: but chiefly them that walk after the flesh, in the lust of un cleanness.. 2 Peter ii. 9, 10.

There shall in no wise enter into it (heaven) any thing that defileth. Rev. xxi. 27.

upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes. I will also save you from all your uncleanness. Ezek. xxxvi. 25 -27, 29.

The heathen shall know that I the Lord do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore. Ezekiel xxxvii. 28.

I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them; I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God. Zech. xiii.9.

He (Christ) shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness. Mal. iii. 3.

I indeed (said John) baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his Hoor. Matt. iii. 11, 12.

der the inhabitants thereof, because they have transgressed the laws. Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the land are burned. Isa. xxiv. 5, 6.

The land is defiled; therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants. Lev. xviii. 25.

Then shall they know that I am the Lord, when I have laid the land most desolate, because of all their abominations which they have committed. Exekiel xxxiii. 29.

Out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man. Matt. xv. 19, 20.

The works of the flesh are manifest, which are these, adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like; of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Gal. v. 1921.

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. For their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also may be sanctified through the truth. John xvii. 17-19.

I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them that are sanctified. Acts xx. 32.

Being sanctified by the Holy Glost. Rom. xv. 16.

We all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image, from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Cor. iii. 18.

Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheri. tance of the saints in light. You that were sometime alienated, and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy, and unblameable, and unreprovable in his sight. Col. i. 12, 21, 22.

This is the will of God, even your sanctification. 1 Thes. iv. 3.

The very Cod of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is he that calleth you, who also

When the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own way and by their doings. Wherefore I poured my fury upon them. Ezek. xxxvi. 17, 18.

These abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled. Lev. xviii. 27.

He that is filthy, let him be filthy still. Rev. xxii. 11.

Her filthiness is in her skirts; she remembereth not her last end; therefore she came down wonderfully; she had no comforter. Lam. i. 9.

Woe unto you, $cribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness. Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? Matt. xxiii. 27, 32, 33.

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupis cence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: for which things' sake the wrath of God cometh upon the children of disobedience. Col. iii. 5, 6.

But fornication and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, ncr unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheri

God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation, through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth. 2 Thes. ii. 13.

Who gave himself (Christ) for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. Tit. ii. 14.

The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication. Rev. xvii. 4.

Her prophets are light and treacherous persons, her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have done violence to the land. Zeph. iii. 4.

Knowledge of God.

Know and consider in thine heart, that the Lord he is God, in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath, there is none else. Deut. v. 39.

Let him that glorieth, glory in this, that he understandeth, and knoweth me, that I am the Lord, which exercise lovingkindness, and judgment, and righteousness in the earth. Jer. ix. 24.

God is known in the palaces of Zion for a refuge. Psalm xlviii. 3.

Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deli. ver him: I will set him up on high, because he hath known my name. Psalm xci. 14..

If thou criest after knowledge,

Ignorance of God..

Pharoah said, Who is the Lord; that I should obey his voice? I know not the Lord; neither will I let Israel go. Exod. v. 2.

They (the wicked) spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave. Therefore say they unto God, Depart from us, for we desire not a knowledge of thy ways. What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him? Job xxi. 13—

15.

Darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people. Isa. lx. 2.

They will not frame their doings to turn unto their God; for the spirit of whoredoms is in the midst of them, and they have not known the Lord.. Therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity.. Hosea v. 4, 5.

As they did not like to retain

and liftest up thy voice for understanding; if thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. Prov. ii. 3-5.

The Lord shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the Lord in that day, and shall do sacrifice and oblation, yea they shall vow unto the Lord and perform it. Isa. xix.

21.

All thy children shall be taught of the Lord. Isa. liv. 13.

I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the Lord; and they shall be my people, and I will be their God. Jer. xxiv. 7.

I will put my law in their inward parts, and will write it in their hearts, and they shall know me, from the least even unto the greatest. Jer. xxxi. 33, 34.

I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the Lord. Hosea ii. 20.

Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord. Hosea vi. 3.

The earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. Hab. ii. 14.

From the rising of the sun, even unto the going down of the same, my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure

God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which were not convenient. Rom. i. 28.

The Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God. 2 Thes. i. 7, 8.

Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? Psl. xiv. 4.

Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee. Psl. lxxix. 6.

My people are foolish; they have not known me; they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge. The whole land shall be desolate. Jer. iv. 22, 27.

The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib; but Israel doth not know, my people do not consider. Isaiah i. 3.

I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not. John vii. 28.

The time cometh, that who, soever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. And these things will they do unto you, because they know not the Father, nor me. John xvi. 2, 3.

Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God
