FULFILMENT OF THE PROPHECIES

RESPECTING THE

DESTRUCTION OF BABYLON.

THE fulfilment of Prophecy presents to our view, a striking evidence of the authenticity of the Holy Scriptures. The accomplishment of the predictions concerning the fall of Babylon, is so impressive, that if it were the only instance of the kind recorded in the sacred volume, we might still wonder how scepticism could exist, and how so many of our fellow creatures could knowingly live in rebellion. against that God who has said, "I will punish the wicked for their iniquity," since he has presented them with such a convincing proof of his abhorrance of sin.

Babylon was a city famed for its greatness and antiquity. Some of our ancient authors assert that Semiramis, and others, that Nimrod was the builder; but such were the improvements made by Nebuchadnezzar, that he may
