O may I every Thought employ,
To praife a dying God.

-

3

He bore my Sins upon the Tree,
Twas there he bled! and died!
I'll to his Wounds for refuge flee,
And view his bleeding Side.

4

Our Names engrav'd upon his Heart,
He ne'er forgets his own;

Nor can his purchas'd ones depart,
They'll furely wear the Crown.

5

With Harps, they'll fing and praife the Lamb,

Who died their Souls to fave;

All Glory! be to Jefu's Name:

He fhall the Glory have.

6

And when I reach the Realms of Blifs!

My weary Soul to rest;

Contentedly where Jefus is,

I'll lean upon his Breaft.

7

I then will fhout! and will adore!
The Lamb; for his free Grace;

Oh

Oh then! I'll praife him evermore,
And bow before his Face.

8

Cou'd I but fee, the Ranfom'd, how!
They filently adore!

The Pafchal Lamb, O Lord I now
Will praife thee evermore.

9

To thee I'll live! in thee I'll die!
And when I mount above:

I'll ceafelefs praife the Lord mofl high!
And fing redeeming Love.

10

'Til then I'll wait, and serve the Lord,
And when he does me call;

I'll claim the Merits of his Blood!
And praise the Lord of All.

Auguft 14, 1787.

Eternal Praises to thee, oh thou LAMB OF GOD! for this inward Peace; that the World can neither give nor take. O thou glorious IMMANUEL! it was only thou, that brought this Peace on earth; and I prefer the Enjoyment of it, to every Thing this vain alluring World

can

can offer. What is there to be compared, with the poffeffion of JESUS? A reconciled GOD and FATHER; the Pardon of my Sins, and a well grounded Hope of Eternal Happiness; CHRIST has made the Satisfaction, and I am free, he now favours me with divine Fellowship, and Communior, fo that I experience in his Prefence, a Heavenly ferene Peace. The LORD feems to fmile; I regard not the Frowns of Man; O LORD continue thus to fmile; and keep me from falling into Sin; especially Pride, oh erafe that curfed Root out of my Heart, and keep me, ever humble at thy Feet. O grant,

that if I live, it may be to the Honour of thy Name: I defire to praise thee! for thou art worthy to be glorified, I refign myself up to thee, take my Body! Soul, and Spirit, for they are thine. And may my laft Breath! be devoted to thee, oh thou MOST HIGH GOD! for my Delight is in thy Service.

To thee, O Lord alone to thee,
My all I wou'd refign;

Fulfil thy Will O Lord in me,
For all I have is thine.

Lord's Day, August 19, 1787.

Glory be to thy Name O! LORD: that I am brought to the Light of another Day, this is a Day, thou haft fet apart for thy holy Worship;

oh

:

oh may I find it a Sabbath to my Soul. Rend the Heavens O Lord! and come down and let me experience fuch a Manifestation of thy Everlafting Love, as I have never yet known; open thy Word to me O LORD by the Influence of thy blessed Spirit, and fanctify me wholly to thy Service, that my few remaining Days may be spent in thy Service, and to the Glory of thy Name.

What a Mercy it is, to be be enlifted under the Banner of the great CAPTAIN OF OUR SALVATION! the LORD JESUS; how highly favoured are those who are following his Steps, and marching on towards the new Jerufalem; bearing the Reproach of their Mafter, rejected and defpifed for his Sake. They fhall fhortly come to the End of their Journey, with Palms of Victory. Oh! what a glorious Meet-ing? could I but fee the departing Souls, that are now entering on the heavenly Plains; leaving the painted Scenes of Time and Senfe, to spend an Eternity with their LORD. Eternity Space immeafurable. Oh! ye foolifh miftaken Mortals! that are wallowing in the vain deceiving Pleasures of this World, upon the Precipice of an awful Eternity; felling your immortal and never dying Souls, for a few Moments diffatisfying Delights. Oh! what a Mercy that the LORD flopped me; when running with this giddy Multitude in the Road to Deftruction. To his free Grace, be all the Glory.

Noon.

Noon. Again and again: will I Praise the Lord! oh thou Fount of every Bleffing, Glory be to thee for thou art to be entreated; why this Profufion of thy Favours to fuch an undeferving Wretch as I am? In thy Prefence is Fulness of Joy. What a Privilege to be admitted to approach the Everlasting I AM! at a Throne of Grace'; and not only approach, but to have Converfe with the GOD OF HEAVEN; to him! we make our Wants and Neceffities known, and he indulgently lends an Ear to our feeble Breathings; remarkable Condefcenfion; infinite Love! he not only hears: but whatever we afk, (having Faith) in the Name of the LORD JESUS! we receive from his Bounty; out of his Fulnefs we have Grace to help in Time of Need; it is in Vain for me to attempt: to speak his Praife; for,

Was all the heav'nly Hofts combind to fing, And fhout, the Praife of our Eternal King; With all the Pow'rs of their Angelic Tongues! They would far fail. Their moft exalted Songs Is but a vain Attempt! to fpeak his Praise.

Eve. This has been a Day of Reft. I have been enabled to trace thy Goings in the Sanctu ary: thou art a LORD, merciful and gracious: pardoning Iniquity, Tranfgreffion, and Sin. He cannot deny himself, this Day! I can fet to my Seal that GOD is true. While I live, will I praife the LORD. Monday,
