A

FAMILIAR INTRODUCTION

TO THE

CHRISTIAN RELIGION.

As the title of this little volume must speak sufficiently its general purport, the author has only to state preliminarily, that he endeavours to treat the subject before him in a manner as little technical as possible. For this reason, amongst others, he abstains almost wholly from all questions of church polity, or communion. Saying this, however, he desires to add, that he is himself a sincere and affectionate member of the Church of England, and writes as standing in that position.

It may be a farther guarantee to the reader of the nature of the feeling which has given birth to these Letters, to be informed that the writer really bears the relation expressed in

them to the persons to whom they are immediately addressed. The name which he assumes is a name to which his age gives him a claim, and is assumed as affording a clearer designation than an absolutely anonymous work on the subject could be easily made to possess.
