SECTION E, including Prayers Nos. 28–35, “At the Ringing of the Prayer Bells," has been omitted from this translation, since in America, the custom of ringing the bells for Prayer does not prevail.

HOURLY PRAYERS.

35.

When thou hearest the hour strike, thou shouldst pray after the following manner:

HEAVENLY Father, my God,

behold and have mercy upon me. Hasten to help me, that in this hour I begin to flee all evil and to do whatsoever is well pleasing in Thy sight. Vouchsafe unto me true faith, and love, and hope in Thee and Thine only Son Jesus Christ, that I may know Him for the heavenly gift given unto me for wisdom, righteousness, holiness and salvation, as my only Redeemer and Mediator before

Thee. Grant me to follow in the footsteps of my Lord Jesus Christ, that I may pattern my life after His life, daily dying unto and denying myself; bearing my cross in patient and humble submission to Thee; loving my neighbor and doing unto him as Christ has done for me; and safely guarding myself against everything that displeases Thee, my Lord. O Jesus, Redeemer, strengthen me unto all such labor and conflict, that I fall not, neither be wounded unto helplessness. Above all, let me neither turn from Thee, nor deny Thee; then, naught can harm me unto death. And when my last hour shall come, grant that I call upon Thy Holy Name and set my trust and hope in the merit of Thy bitter sufferings and death, which I set up between me and Thy judgment. O
