To-day that is coming, speaks it the day,
The night that is gone to following night.
In all the lands resounds the word,
Never unperceived, ever understood.

* OR THIS:

In splendour bright the sun emerging darts his glorious rays, great regent of the day! rejoiced through heaven's high road to run his destin'd course. With softer beams and milder light,

The silver moon steals through the silent night.

Innumerous hosts of radiant orbs, glittering, adorn the azure vault of heaven; and the celestial choir announced the fourth day in song divine, proclaiming thus God's power:

The heav'ns declare the glory of GoD,

The firmament displays the wonders of his work.
Day unto day doth utter speech,

Night unto night doth knowledge show;

In ev'ry land their voice is heard,

Never unperceived, ever understood. [HAYDN.

GENESIS i.

26. AND GOD said, Let us now make man in our own image, man in our similitude, and let him rule over the fish and fowl of sea and air, beast of the field, and over all the earth, and every creeping thing that creeps the earth.

Ps. viii. 4. LORD, what is man, that thou art mindful of him or the son of man, that thou regardest him?

5. Thou mad'st him lower than the angels to crown him with glory and worship.

6. Thou mad'st him to have dominion of the works of thy hands and thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet.

9. How excellent thy name, O LORD,

In all the world is known!

Above all heav'ns, O King, ador'd,

How hast thou set thy glorious throne!

[PRATT, from HANDEL.
