IV.

Tune 22.

Come, let us sing the song of songs,
With hearts and voices swell the strain,
The homage which to Christ belongs;
"Worthy the Lamb, for he was slain!"
To him who suffered on the tree,

Our souls, at his soul's price, to gain,
Blessing, and praise, and glory be;

Worthy the Lamb, for he was slain!"

PRAYER.

The communicants shall give the right hand of fellowship while the following lines are sung:

C. M.

Tune 185, part 2.

Say, "My peace I leave with you:?
Amen, Amen, be it so.

Lord, how divine thy comforts are!
How heavenly is the place,

Where Jesus spreads the sacred feast
Of his redeeming grace!

There the rich bounties of our God,
And heavenly glories shine:
There Jesus saith, that I am his,
And my belovéd 's mine.

Tune 14.

¶ All standing, the Minister shall consecrate the bread, saying:

Our Lord Jesus Christ, the same night in which he was betrayed, took bread, and, when he had given thanks, he brake it, and gave it to his disciples and said: Take, eat; this is my body which is given for you. This do in remembrance of me.

8s & 7s.

Take me, O my Father, take me,

Tune 16.

Take me, save me, through thy Son;

That, which thou wouldst have me, make me,
Let thy will in me be done.

Fruitless years with grief recalling,

Humbly I confess my sin;

At thy feet, O Father, falling,

To thy household take me in.

Once the world's Redeemer dying,
Bore our sins upon the tree;
On that sacrifice relying,

Now I look in hope to thee.

8s, 7s & 4s.

7s, 61.

C. M.

Jesus, Lord of life and glory,

Tune 585.

Bend from heaven thy gracious ear,
While our waiting souls adore thee,
Friend of helpless sinners, hear!
By thy mercy,

Oh, deliver us, good Lord!

From the depth of nature's blindness,
From the hardening power of sin,
From all malice and unkindness,
From the pride that lurks within,
By thy mercy,

Oh deliver us, good Lord!

When temptation sorely presses,
In the day of Satan's power,
In our times of deep distresses,
In each dark and trying hour,
By thy mercy,

Oh deliver us, good Lord!

Tune 581.

Once again beside the cross,
All my gain I count but loss;
Earthly pleasures fade away,
Clouds they are that hide my day;
Hence, vain shadows! let me see
Jesus crucified for me.

Blessed Saviour! thine am I,

Thine to live, and thine to die;

Height, or depth, or creature power,
Ne'er shall hide my Saviour more;
Ever shall my glory be,

Only, only, only thee.

We would not live by bread alone,
But by that word of grace,
In strength of which we travel on
To our abiding-place.

Tune 14.

Be known to us in breaking bread,
But do not then depart;

Saviour, abide with us, and spread
Thy table in our heart.

Then sup with us in love divine:
Thy body and thy blood,

That living bread, that heavenly wine,

Be our immortal food.

When the bread has been distributed, the communicants shall rise and the Minister shall say:

Our Lord Jesus Christ said, Take, eat, this is my body which is given for you.

SILENT PRAYER.

7s, 6s & 8s.

Incline thine ear in favor

To us, most gracious Saviour,
Accept our promises:

Thy death, thy wounds, and passion
Abide our heart's confession,

Till we shall see thee face to face

Tune 79.

All standing, the Minister shall consecrate the wine, saying:

After the same manner also our Lord Jesus Christ took the cup, when he had supped, gave thanks, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Drink ye all of it; this is my blood, the blood of the New Testament, which is shed for you and for many, for the remission of sins. This do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. Tune 22.

L. M.

Just as I am, without one plea,

But that thy blood was shed for me,
And that thou bidd'st me come to thee,
O Lamb of God! I come-I come!

Just as I am, and waiting not

To rid my soul of one dark blot,

To thee, whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God! I come-I come!

Just as I am; thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because thy promise I believe,

O Lamb of God! I come-I come!

S. M

Just as I am; thy love unknown
Has broken every barrier down;
Now, to be thine, yea, thine alone,
O Lamb of God! I come-I come!

C. M.

7s.

I bless the Christ of God;
I rest on love divine;

Tune 595.

And with unfaltering lip and heart,
I call this Saviour mine.

I praise the God of grace,

I trust his truth and might:
He calls me his, I call him mine,
My God, my joy, my light.

My God accept my heart this day,
And make it always thine,

That I from thee no more may stray;
No more from thee decline.

Before the cross of him who died,
Behold I prostrate fall;

Let every sin be crucified,

Let Christ be all in all.

May the dear blood once shed for me,

My blest atonement prove;

That I from first to last may be
The purchase of thy love.

Tune 14.

Let every thought, and work, and word,
To thee be ever given;

Then life shall be thy service, Lord,
And death the gate of heaven.

Tune 205.

Plenteous grace with thee is found,
Grace to pardon all my sin;
Let the healing streams abound,
Make and keep me pure within:
Thou of life the fountain art,
Freely let me take of thee;
Spring thou up within my heart,
Rise to all eternity.

The communicants shall give the right hand of fellowship while the following lines are sung:

P.M.

Should not I for gladness leap,
Led by Jesus as his sheep?

For when these blest days are over,
To the arms of my dear Saviour,
I shall be conveyed to rest;
Amen, yea, my lot is blest.

BENEDICTION.

V.

Spirit of truth, come down,
Reveal the things of God,

Tune 595.

Make thou to us Christ's Godhead known,
Apply his precious blood.

His merits glorify,

That each may clearly see,

Jesus, who did for sinners die,
Hath surely died for me.

Then, only then, we feel
Our interest in his blood,
And cry with joy unspeakable,
"Thou art my Lord, my God.”

Most holy Lord and God,

Holy, almighty God,

Holy and most merciful Saviour,

Thou eternal God;

Bless thy congregation

Tune 519.

Through thy sufferings, death, and blood:

Have mercy, O Lord.

PRAYER.

The communicants shall give the right hand of fellowship while the following lines are sung:

Tune 185, part 2.

Say, "My peace I leave with you:"
Amen, Amen, be it so.
