WHereas in the first year of the late Queen Elizabeth, there was one Uniform Order of Common Service and Prayer,and of the Adminiftration of Sa craments, Rites and Ceremonies in the Church of England, (agreeable to the word of God, and ufage of the Primitive Church) compiled by the Reverend BiShops and Clergy, fet forth in one Book, Entituled, The Book of Common Prayer and Adminiftration of Sacraments, and other Rites and Ceremonies in the Church of England, and enjoyned to be ufed by Act of Parliament bolden in the faid First year of the faid late Queen, Entituled, An Act for the Uniformity of Common Prayer and Service in the Church, and Administration of the Sacraments, very comfortable to all good

thing contained, and preferibed in, and by the Book, Entituled, The Book of Common Prayer, and adminiftration of the Sacraments, and other Rites and Ceremonies of the Church, according to the ule of the Church of England, together with the Pfalter or Pfalms of David, Pointed as they are to be fung or faid in Churches; and the form and manner of Making, Ordaining, and Confecrating of Bishops, Priefts, and Deacons.

And, that all and every fuch perfon, who fball (without fome lawful impediment, to be allowed and approved of by the Ordinary of the place) neglect or refufe to do the fame within the time aforefaid, (or in cafe of fuch impediment) within one moneth after fuch im pediment removed fall ipfo facto be deprived of all his Spiritual Promotions; And that from thenceforth it shall be law ful to, and for all Patrons, and Donors of all and fingular the faidSpiritual Promotions, or of any of them, according to their refpective Rights and Titles, to prefent, or collate to the fame, as though the per

And if any Schoolmaster or other perfon inftructing or teaching Youth in any private Houfe or Family, as a Tutor or Schoolmaster, shall instruct or teach any Youth as a Tutor or Schoolmaster, before Licenfe obtained from his refpective Archbishop, Bishop, or Ordinary of the Diocefs, according to the Laws and Statutes of this Realm (for whirl; be shall pay Twelve pence only) and before fuch Subfcription and acknowledgment made as aforefaid; Then every fuch Shoolmaster and other, inftructing and teaching as a forefaid, fhall for the first offence fuffer three months imprisonment without Bail or Mainprize, and for every fecond and other fuck offence fhall fuffer three months imprisonment without Bail or Mainprize, and alfo forfeit to his Majesty the fum of five pounds.

And I do declare, that I do hold there

lies no Obligation upon me,or on any other perfon from the Oath, commonly called the Solemn League and Covenant,to endeavour any change, or alteratim of Government either in Church or State, And that the fame was in it felf an unlawful oath, and imposed upon the Subjects of this Realm again the known Laws and Liberties of this Kingdom; ·So as none of the perfons aforefaid fall from thenceforth be at all obliged to fubfcribe or read that part of the said Declaration, or Acknowledgment..
