Unto me, who am lels then the leaft of all faints, is this grace given,that I thould preach among the Gentiles the unfearchable riches of Chrift; and to make all men fee, what is the fellowship of the myftery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jefus Chrift: To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places, might be known by the Church the manifold wifdom of God, according to the eternal purpose which he purpofed in Chrift Jefus our Lord. In whom we have boldnefs and accefs with confidence by the faith of him.

The Gospel. S. Matth.2.1,

Hen Jefus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wife-men from the eaft to Jerufalem, faying,Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have feen his ftar in the caft,and are come to worship him. When Herod the king had heard these things,he was troubled, and all Jerufalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and fcribes of the people together, he demanded of them, where Chrift Ihould be born. And they faid unto him, In Bethlehem of Judea: For thus it is written by the prophet, And thou Bethchem in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda. For out of thee fhall come a Goverour that shall rule my people Ifrael. Then Herod when he had privily called the wife-men, enquired of hem diligently what time the ftar appeared. And he ent them to Bethlehem, and faid, Go, and fearch diligently for the young child, and when ye have found tim,bring me word again,that I may come and worship tim alfo. When they had heard the king,they departed; ind lo,the star which they faw in the east, went before hem, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they faw the ftar, they rejoyced with exeeding great joy. And when they were come into the

houfe,they faw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down and worshipped him:and when they had opened their treafures, they prefented unto him gifts, gold,and frankincenfe,and myrrhe. And being warned of God in a dream,that they should not return toHerod, they departed into their own countrey another way. The first Sunday after the Epiphany.

The Collect.

Lord, we beseech thee mercifully to receive the prayers of thy people which call upon thee, and grant that they may both perceive and know what things they ought to do, and alfo may have grace and power faithfully to fulfill the fame through JefusChrift our Lord The Epiftle. Rom. 12. 1.

Amen.

Befeech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye prefent your bodies a living facrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reafonable fervice. And be not conformed to this world;but bè ye transformed by the renewing of your mind,that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God. For I fay, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himfelf more highly then he ought to think,but to think foberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the meafure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the fame office; fo we being many,are one body in Christ,and every one members one of another..

And all that heard him were aftonifhed at his understanding and answers. And when they faw him, they were amazed and his mother faid unto him,Son,why haft thou thus dealt with us?behold, thy father and I have fought thee forrowing. And he faid unto them, How is it that ye fought me? wift ye not that I must be about my fathers bufinefs? And they understood not the faying which he spake unto them. And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was fubject unto them: but his mother kept all these fayings in her heart. And Jefus increased in wisdom, and ftature, and in favour with God and man.

The Collect.

Almighty and everlasting God, who dost govern all things in heaven and earth mercifully hear the fupplications of thy people, and grant us thy peace all the days of our life, through Jefus Christ our Lord. Amen.
