18 He said, Bring them hither to

19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves and the two fishes, and, looking up to heaven. he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

20 And they did all eat, and were filled and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.Z

21 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.

22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.

23 And when he had sent the Lu.9.10,&c. multitudes away, hem went up into Jno.6.1,2, a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.

25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

26 And n when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, o saying, It is spirit; and they cried out for fear.

27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Bep of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it q be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

30 But when he saw the wind 3 boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.r

2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do you also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? b

4 For God commanded, saying c Honour thy father and mother; and, He d that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.

5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;

6 And honour note his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.

17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth / goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?

18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

19 For m'out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man. 21 T Then n Jesus went thence, and departed into the coast of Tyre and Sidon.

13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Cesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom i do men say that I the Son of man am?

14 And they said, k Some say that thou art John the Baptist; some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona for flesh m and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but n my father which is in heaven.

18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter; o and p upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates g of hell shall not prevail r against it.

19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou s shalt bind on earth, shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth, shall be loosed in heaven. 20 Then t charged he his disciples, that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

21 From u that time forth began Jesus to show unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, 1 Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not
