The First Gospel Promife.
Gen. iii. 15.
'HE promife firft, that led the van,
But op'd the door of blifs to man,
"I'll put eternal enmity,
"O thou fatanic foe!
"Between the woman foil'd and thee,
The Ten Plagues of Ifrael named and juftified.. Exod. vii. viii. ix. x. and xii. chap.
HE first, their water turn'd to blood,
The second, caus'd vile frogs to croud,
The fourth, made fwarms of flees arife,
The fifth, their beafts with murrain kill'd
The fixth, with boils their bodies fill'd,
The seventh, destroy'd with fire and bail,
Their fury to affwage.
The eighth, made locufts fierce prevail,
The ninth, thick darknefs on them drew,
The tenth, all Egypt's first-born slew,
The Song of Moses, when the Ifraelites were delivered out of the bands of the Egyptians. Exod. xv. 1,-21.
The LORD's Praife celebrated for bis own Excellence, and overthrowing bis Enemies.
Ver. I'LL fing unto the Lord, who doth
For he the horfe, and rider both,
Into the ocean threw.
2 Weak was I, but the Lord's my ftrength;
Loft, but he is become at length
He is my God, I'll him prepare
My father's God, with double care
3 The Lord's a man of war, I boast
4 He Pharaoh's chariots and his hoft,
He did his chofen captains drown,
The depths them hid, to th' bottom down
They like a flone did fink.
6 Thy right-hand, O Jehovah, did
Thy right-hand, O Jehovah, did
7 Soon in thy greatness excellent,
8 Lo! at thy noftrils blast, on fight
The waves combining rofe;
9 The raging foe thus fpoke in pride,
Upon them fhall enjoy ;
My bloody fword draw forth I will,
10 But when thy wind did blow, with speed
For down they fank, as pond'rous lead,
The LORD extolled for bis wonderful Works
II Who is like thee among the gods!
None elfe the like can do!
12 When thou but ftretchedft thy right-hand, The earth obedient rofe,
With open mouth, at thy command,
13 Thou all the folk thou did'ft redeem,
And, in thy ftrength, haft guided them
14 People fhall hear and fear, and fo
Sorrow fhall catch the folk that do
15 On Edom's dukes amazing fits,
16 Great fear and dread fhall them arrest,
Till once the folk, thou chofen haft,
To the mountain thou inheriteft,
17 The place, O Lord, which thou haft made
Firm, by thy hands divine.
18 The Lord fhall ever reign, who hath Such fame by Pharaoh's plea,
19 Whofe chariot, horfe, and cavalcade,
For then the Lord upon their head,
SECT. III. MIRIAM's Anfwer.
Sing to the Lord, who made his name,

[3.] God's glorious name take not in vain, For be rever'd he will.
 His facred Sabbath don't profane, Mind it is holy ftill.
 To parents render due refpect, This may thy life prolong.
[6.] All murder fhun and malice check, To no man's life do wrong.
[7.] From thoughts of whoredom bafe abftain, From words and actions vile.
[8.] Shun theft and all unlawful gain, Nor gather wealth by guile.
[9.] Falfe witnefs flee, and fland'ring spite, Nor wilful lies invent.
 Don't covet what's thy neighbour's right, Nor harbour difcontent.
Submiffion and Deliverance; or, GoD's appearing in Extremity, and ABRAHAM offering his Son. Gen. xxii. 6,-19.
LORD, we, through grace at thy command,
With faith and humble zeal,
Refign our fpirits to thy hand,
To mould them to thy will.
At God's command thus Abra'm took
And flraight prepar'd the dreadful firoke
Abra'm, forbear, the angel cry'd,
Thy faith is fhewn, thy love is try'd,
The deed is held as done.
