563. Is repentance the gift of God ?
Ac. 5. 30. The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom
ye slew and hanged on a tree: Him bath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.
Ac. 11. 18. Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
2 Tim. 2. 25. In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth.
564. Are repentance and confession required as a term of forgiveness and salvation ?
Lev. 26. 40. If they shall consess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me; And that I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity: Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and I will remember the land.
