Indestructible bodies.

believe that we shall also live with him; Knowing that Christ, being raised from the dead, dieth no more.

Rom. 8. 23. We ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

1 Cor. 15. 21. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 52. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. [See the whole chapter.]

2 Cor. 4. 14. Knowing, that he which raised up the Lord Jesus, shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.

1 Th. 4 16. The Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

146. Will the dead be raised with new and indestructible bodies?

1 Cor. 15. 35. But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened except it die: And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be. 42. So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption: It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power: It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. 50. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. 52. ruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.—Then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

Ph. 3. 20. We look for the Saviour

Depravity.

147. Are all persons morally depraved?

Gen. 6. 11. The earth also was corrupt before God; and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and behold, it was corrrupt: for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

Ps. 14. 2. The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are altogether become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Ps. 53. 1-3.

Rom. 3. 9. What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood. Destruction and misery are in their ways: And the way of peace have they not known. There is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

Ep. 2. 1. And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time passed

ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

148. What is the nature of moral depravity?

Hos. 10. 1. Israel is an empty vine, he bringeth forth fruit unto himself.

Rom. 7. 7. I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

Col. 3. 5. And covetousness, which is idolatry.

2 Tim. 3. 1. In the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud.

Jam. 1. 14. Every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then, when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin; and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

1 Jn. 5. 17. All unrighteousness is sin.

149. Is sin a voluntary transgression of the law of God?

Rom. 4. 15. Where no law is, there is no transgression.

Rom. 5. 13.

Sin is not imputed when there is no

1 Jn. 3. 4. Sin is the transgression of the law. 150. Is there any moral neutrality?

Mat. 12. 30. He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. Lk. 11 23.

Lk. 16. 10. He that is faithful in that which is least, is faithful also in much; and he that is unjust in the least, is unjust also in much. 13. No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and

despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mam

mon.

Jam. 2. 10. Whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

151. Does sin involve some knowledge of good and evil?

Jn. 9. 41. If ye were blind, ye should have no sin. Jam. 4. 17. To him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

152. How early do mankind sin?

Job 11. 12. For vain man would be wise, though man be born like a wild ass's colt.

Job 14. 4. Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.

Job 15. 14. What is man that he should be clean? and he that is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

Ps. 51. 5.

in sin did my Ps. 58. 3.

Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and mother conceive me.

The wicked are enstranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.

Pr. 22. 15. Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child.

Is. 48. 8. I knew that thou wouldst deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb.

Jn. 3. 6. That which is born of the flesh, is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit, is spirit.

Rom. 3. 10. There is none righteous, no not one. 20. Therefore by the deeds of the law, there shall no flesh be justified in his sight. 23. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

Rom. 5. 12. Death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. 14. Death reigned from Adam to Moses; even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression.

Native depravity-Adam's sin.

2 Cor. 5. 14. If one died for all, then were all dead. Ep. 2. 3. And were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

1 Tim. 2. 6. Who gave himself a ransom for all.

153. Is there any thing in little children that resembles piety?

Mat. 18. 3.

Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Mk. 10. 14. Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. And he took them up in his arms, and put his hands upon them, and blessed them. Lk. 18. 16.

154. Did Adam's first sin occasion the sin and misery of his posterity?

Rom. 5. 12. Wherefore as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned, 15. If through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift. For the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace, and of the gift of righteousness, shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ. Therefore, as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation, even so by the righteous. ness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
