thing, that he who hath begun a good work in you, will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ; even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace. For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the affections of Jesus

Christ. And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge, and in all judgment; that ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ unto glory and praise of

the God.

The Twentyfourth Sunday after Whitsunday.

THE COLLECT.

O GOD, our refuge and strength, who art the author of all godliness; be ready, we beseech thee, to hear the devout prayers

of thy church; and grant. that those things which we ask faithfully, we may obtain effectually, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE GOSPEL.

Matt. xxii. 15-22.

THEN went the Pharisees, and took counsel how

they might entangle him in his talk. And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Mas

Tell us therefore, what thinkest thou? is it lawful to give tribute unto Cæsar, or not? And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? They say unto him, Cæsar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Cæsar, the things that are Cæsar's, and unto God, the things which are God's. When they had

BELOVED, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; how that they told you there should be mockers in the last time,

who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the spirit. But ye beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the holy Ghost, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And of some have compassion, making a difference; and others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh. Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

The Twentyfifth Sunday after Whitsunday.

THE COLLECT.

O LORD, we beseech thee, absolve thy people from their offences; that through thy bountiful goodness we may all be delivered from the bands of those sins which by our frailty we have committed, and be brought into the glorious liberty of the Grant children of God. this, O heavenly Father, for thine infinite mercy's sake in Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

THE GOSPEL.

Matt. ix. 18-26.

WHILE Jesus spake these things unto John's disciples, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead; but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live. And Jesus arose and followed him, and so did his disciples. And behold a woman who was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came be

hind him, and touched the hem of his garment; for she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort, thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour. when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise, he said unto them, Give place; for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose. And the fame thereof went abroad into all that land.

THE EPISTLE.

Coloss. i. 3-13.

WE give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord

Jesus Christ, praying always for you; since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which you have to all the saints; for the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel, which is come unto you, as it is in all the world, and

bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth; as ye also learned of Epaphras, our dear fellow servant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ; who also declared unto us your love in the spirit. For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will, in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might according to his glorious power, unto all patience and long suffering, with joyfulness; giving thanks unto the Father, who hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light; who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.

The Twentysixth Sunday after Whitsunday.

THE COLLECT.

O LORD, we beseech

thee to encourage the hearts of thy faithful people, that they, always relying on thy power, and trusting in thy grace, may bring forth plenteously the fruit of good works, and of thee be plenteously rewarded, both in the world which now is, and that which is to come, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

THE GOSPEL.

John x. 22-29.

AND it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter. And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch. Then came the Jews round about

him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the

Christ, tell us plainly. Jesus Christ, tell us plainly. Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not. The

works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me; but ye believe not; because ye are not my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me; and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall ever perish, neither shall

any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, who gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

FOR THE EPISTLE.

Jer. xxiii. 5-8.

BEHOLD, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous branch, and a king shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice on the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely; and this is his name whereby the Lord shall call him, OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. Therefore behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that they shall no who brought up the children more say, The Lord liveth,
