EPISTLE. 1 Cor. x. 6, 13. Brethren: Let us pot covet evil things, as they also coveted. Neither become ye idolaters, as some of them: as it is written :

“ The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play."" Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed fornication, and there fell in one day three-and-twenty thousand. Neither let us tempt Christ: as some of them tempted, and perished by the serpents. Neither do von murmur: as some of them murmured, and were destroyed by the destroyer. Luke xix. 41, 47. At that time :
When he drew near Jerusalem, seeing the city, he

peace: but now they are hidden from thy eyes
For the days shall come upon thee: and thy enemies
shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee
round, and straiten thee on every side, and beat
thee fat to the ground, and thy children who are in
thee: and they shall not leave in theé a stone upon
a stone: because thou hast not known the time of
thy visitation. And entering into the temple, he be-
gan to cast out them that sold therein, and them that
bought. Saying to them : It is written: " My house
is the house of prayer; but you have made it a den

are right, rejoiciug hearts: and his precepts are

COLLECT. Deus, qui. O God, who chiefly manifested thy Almighty power in pardoning and shewing mercy, increase thy goodness towards us : that having recourse to thy promises, we may be partakers of thy heavenly blessing. Thro'.

EPISTLE. 1 Cor. xii. 2, 11. Brethren: You know that, when you were heathens, you went to dumb idols, according as you were led. Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man, speaking by the spirit of God, saith Anathema to Jesus. And no man can say the Lord Jesus, but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are diversities of graces, but the same spirit. And there are diversities of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but the same God who worketh all in all. And the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man unto profit. GOSPEL. Luke xviii. 9, 14. At that time : Jesus spake this parable to some who trusted in

themselves as just, and despised others. Two meu went up into the temple to pray: the one was a Pharisee, and the other a Publican. The Pharisee standing, prayed thus with himself: 0 God, 1 gire thee thanks that I am not as the rest of men, extor tioners, unjust, adulterers, as also is this publicar I fast twice in the week : I give tithes of all that! possess.

And the publican standing afar off would not so much as lift up his eyes towards heaven: but struck bis breast, saying : 0 God be merciful to me a sinner.
