And from thence, when the brethren heard of us, they came to meet us as far as Apii forum, and The three taverns : whom when Paul saw, he thanked God, and took courage. VER. 16. And when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the cap tain of the guard: but Paul was suffered to dwell by himself with a soldier that kept him. VER. 17. VER. 27. Ἐπαχύνθη γὰρ ἡ καρδία τοῦ λαοῦ τού του, καὶ τοῖς ὠσὶ βαρέως ἤκουσαν, καὶ τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς αὑτῶν ἐκάμμυσαν μήν ποτε ἴδωσι τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς, καὶ τοῖς ὠσὶν ἀκούσωσι, καὶ τῇ καρδίᾳ συνῶσι, καὶ ἐπιστρέψωσι, καὶ ἰάσομαι αὐτούς. For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. VER. 28. Γνωστὸν οὖν ἔστω ὑμῖν ὅτι τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ἀπεστάλη τὸ σωτήριον τοῦ Θεοῦ· αὐτοὶ καὶ ἀκούσονται. But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me, xxvi. 16-18. Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord? ix. 1. But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me, xv. 8-10.
