Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen, 14. And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city. Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness, Isa. i. 26, 27. For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice, from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this, Isa. ix. 6, 7. Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous A. D. 33. ACTS 1. 6-8. A. And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle-bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace unto the heathen; and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth, Zech. ix. 9, 10. But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel; and beside all this, to-day is the third day since these things were done, Luke xxiv, 21. See also on Luke i, ver. 54, VER. 7. And David my servant shall be king over them and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them. And they shall | dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they and their children, and their children's children for ever; and my servant David shall be their prince for ever. Moreover, I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; and I will place chem, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. My tabernacle also shall be with them; yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore, Ezek. xxxvii. 24-28. And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him, Dan. vii. 27. For the children of Israel shall abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an ephod, and without teraphim. Afterward shall the children of Israel return, and seek the LORD their God, and David their king; and shall fear the LORD and his goodness in the latter days, Hos. iii. 4, 5. Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost, 1417; And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the Gospel in many villages of the Sa maritans, 25.
