a stranger, and took thee in? or naked,

Ακούσας δέ τις τῶν συνανακειμένων ταῦτα, εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Μακάριος ὃς φάγεται ἄρτον ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τοῦ Θεοῦ.

And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, a Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God.

Καὶ εἶπεν ὁ κύριος πρὸς τὸν δοῦλον· Εξελθα εἰς τὰς ὁδοὺς καὶ φραγμούς, καὶ ἀνάγ κασον εἰσελθεῖν, ἵνα γεμισθῇ ὁ οἶκός μου.

For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, hable idolatries: Wherein they think revellings, banquetings, and abomiit strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you, 1 Pet. iv. 3, 4.

VER. 14.

Δαπανήσαντος δὲ αὐτοῦ πάντα, ἐγένετο λιμὸς ἰσχυρὸς κατὰ τὴν χώραν ἐκείνην· καὶ αὐτὸς ἤρξατο ὑστερεῖσθαι.

And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.

Καὶ πορευθεὶς ἐκολλήθη ἑνὶ τῶν πολιτῶν τῆς χώρας ἐκείνης· καὶ ἔπεμψεν αὐτὸν εἰς τοὺς ἀγροὺς αὑτοῦ βόσκειν χοίρους.

And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

VER. 16.

Καὶ ἐπεθύμει γεμίσαι τὴν κοιλίαν αὑτοῦ ἀπὸ τῶν κερατίων ὧν ἤσθιον οἱ χοῖροι· καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐδίδου αὐτῷ.

And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him,

Εἰς ἑαυτὸν δὲ ἐλθὼν, εἴασε· Πόσοι μίσο θιοι τοῦ πατρός μου περισσεύουσιν ἄρτων, ἐγὼ δὲ λιμῷ ἀπόλλυμαι;

aWherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, And when he came to himself, he being aliens from the commonwealth said, How many hired servants of my of Israel, and strangers from the co-father's have bread enough and to spare, venants of promise, having no hope, and I perish with hunger! and without God in the world: But now, in Christ Jesus, ye who sometimes were far off, are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us: Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

long-suffering, and plenteous in mercy
and truth, 15. The LORD is merciful
and gracious, slow to anger, and plen-
teous in mercy. He will not always
chide; neither will he keep his anger
for ever.

He hath not dealt with us
after our sins, nor rewarded us ac-
cording to our iniquities. For as the
heaven is high above the earth, so
great is his mercy toward them that
fear him, ciii. 8-11. Seek ye the
LORD while he may be found, call ye
upon him while he is near.

righteous man his thoughts: and let
him return unto the LORD, and he will
have mercy upon him; and to our
God, for he will abundantly pardon,
