E te conjure donc devant Dieu et devant le Seigneur JésusChrist, qui doit juger les vivans et les morts, lorsqu'il apparoîtra dans son règne:

2 Prêche la parole, insiste en tems et hors de tems, reprends, censure et exhorte, avec toute sorte de douceur, et en instrui

sant.

3 Car il viendra un tems que les hommes ne souffriront point la saine doctrine; mais qu'ayant une démangeaison d'entendre des choses agréables, ils s'assembleront des docteurs selon leurs propres desirs;

4 Et ils fermeront l'oreille à la vérité, et se tourneront vers des fables.

5 Mais toi, sois vigilant en toutes choses; endure les afflictions; fais l'œuvre d'un prédicateur de l'évangile remplis les devoirs de ton ministère.

hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;

15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness;

17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

CHAP. IV.

Paul's solemn charge to Timothy.

CHARGE thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;

2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season ; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all long-suffering and doctrine.

18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

19 Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.

20 Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick.

21 Do thy diligence to come before winter. Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.

22 The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.

18 Le Seigneur me délivrera aussi de toute oeuvre mauvaise, et me sauvera dans son royaume céleste: A lui soit gloire aux siècles des siècles. Amen. 19 Salue Prisce et Aquilas, et la famille d'Onésiphore.

20 Eraste est demeuré à Corinthe, et j'ai laissé Trophime malade à Milet.

21 Hâte-toi de venir avant l'hiver. Eubulus, Pudens, Linus, Claudia, et tous nos frères, te saluent.

22 Le Seigneur Jésus-Christ soit avec ton esprit! La grace soit avec vous tous. Amen!

La seconde êpitre à Timothée, qui a été établi le premier évêque des Ephésiens, a été écrite de Rome, lorsque Paul fut présenté la seconde fois à César Néron.

The second epistle unto Timotheus, or dained the first bishop of the church of the Ephesians, was written from Rome, when Paul was brought before Nero the second time.
