VIII. Promifes of the SECURITY, TRANQUILLITY, and PROSPERITY of the CHURCH. Ifa. iv. 5. And the LORD will create upon every dwelling-place of Mount Zion, and upon her affemblies, a cloud, and smoke by day, and the fhining of a flaming fire by night; for upon all the glory fhall be a defence. Ver. 6. And there fhall be a tabernacle for a fhadow in the day-time from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from ftorm and from rain. If. xxvii. 2. In that day fing ye unto her a vineyard of red wine. Ver. 3. I the LORD do keep it; I will water it every moment ; left any hurt it, I will keep it night and day. If. xxxiii. 20. Look upon Zion, the city of our folemnities; thine eyes fhall fee Jerufalem a quiet habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be taken down; not one of the stakes thereof fhall ever be removed, neither fhall any of the cords thereof be broken. Ver. 21. For there the glorious LORD will be unto us a place of broad rivers and ftreams, wherein fhall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby : Ver. 22. For the LORD is our Judge, the LORD is our Lawgiver; the LORD is our King; he will fave us. I. liv. 14. In righteoufnefs fhalt thou be establifhed thou fhalt be far from oppreffion, for thou fhalt not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near thee. Ver. 15. Behold, they fhall furely gather together, but not by me whofoever fhall gather together against thee, fhall fall for thy fake. Ver. 17. No weapon that is formed against thee, fhall fhall profper; and every tongue that shall rife against thee in judgment, thou fhalt condemn. This is the heritage of the fervants of the LORD, and their righteoufnefs is of me, faith the LORD. Ifa. lxv. 18. Be you glad, and rejoice forever in that which I create; for, behold, I create Jerufalem, a rejoicing, and her people a joy. Ver. 19. And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people; and the voice of weeping fhall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying. Ifa. li. 3. The LORD will comfort Zion; he will comfort all her waste places, and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her defart like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness fhall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody. Pf. cii. 13. Thou fhalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion; for the time to favour her, yea, the set time is come : Ver. 14. For thy fervants take pleasure in her ftones, and favour the dust thereof. Ver. 16. When the Lord fhall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory. Ifa. lxvi. 10. Rejoice ye with Jerufalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her; rejoice for joy. with her, all ye that mourn for her. Ver. 11. That ye may fuck and be fatisfied with the breafts of her confolations; that ye may milk out and be delighted with the abundance of her glory. Ver. 12. For thus faith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then fhall ye fuck, ye fhall be borne upon her fides, and be dandled upon her knees. See ver. 13, 14. Jer. xxxiii. 6. In his days Judah fhall be faved, and Ifrael fhall dwell fafely. Matth. xvi. 18. Upon this rock will I build my church church, and the gates of hell fhall not prevail against it. Dan. vii. 27. And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, fhall be given to the people of the faints of the Most High, whofe kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions fhall ferve and obey him. IX. Promifes of the PERPETUAL CONTINUANCE of the CHURCH. Ifa. lix. 21. As for me, this is my covenant with them, faith the LORD, My Spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put into thy mouth, fhall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy feed, nor out of the mouth of thy feed's. feed, faith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever. Ifa. lxvi. 22. For as the new heavens and the new earth which I will make, fhall remain before me, faith the LORD, fo fhall your feed and your name. remain. Jer. xxxi. 35. Thus faith the LORD, which giv eth the fun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the fea when the waves thereof roar; the. LORD of hofts is his name : Ver. 36. If thofe ordinances depart from before me, faith the LORD, then the feed of Ifrael alfo fhall cease: from being a nation before me for ever. Ver. 37. Thus faith the LORD, if heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth fearched out beneath; I will alfo caft off all the feed. of Ifrael, for all that they have done, faith the LORD.. Matth. xxviii. 20. Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. X. Promifes of the CONVERSION and RESTORATION of the JEWS. Jer. xxx. 9. They fhall ferve the LORD their GÖD, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them. Ver. 10. Therefore fear not thou, O my fervant Jacob, faith the LORD, neither be thou difmayed, O Ifrael; for lo, I will fave thee from afar, and thy feed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob fhall return, and shall be in rest and quiet, and none shall make him afraid. See to the end of the Chapter. Jer. xxxi. 1. At the fame time, faith the LORD, will I be the GOD of all the families of Ifrael, and they fhall be my people. Ver. 4. Again I will build thee, and thou fhalt be built, O virgin of Ifrael; thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry. Ver. 10. Hear the word of the LORD, O nations, and declare it in the ifles afar off, and fay, He that fcattered Ifrael will gather him, and keep him, as a fhepherd doth his flock. Ver. 17. There is hope in thine end, that thy children fhall come again to their own border. Ver. 31. Behold, the days come, faith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the houfe of Ifrael, and with the houfe of Judah : Ver. 32. Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers, &c. Ver. 33. But this fhall be the covenant that I will make with the houfe of Ifrael: After those days, faith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts and I will be their GOD, and they fhall be my people. : Ver. 38. Behold the days come, faith the LORD, that the city fhall be built to the LORD, from the tower of Hananiel, unto the gate of the corner. See the whole chapter. Jer. xxxii. 41. Thus faith the LORD, If my covenant be not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth: Ver. 26.
